When I first viewed Kill Bill 1, I said to myself, "Tarentino has done it again." Like all Tarentino movies, I liked it alot. But after repeated viewings of the sequel, I realized that Kill Bill 1 doesnt hold a candle to volume 2.

Yes there is less action. Some may even think its much slower. But volume 2 is so incredibly genius that I have a hard time believing a human made it. From the begginning black and white flash back, to the "cruel teutalag of Pai Mei", to the final confrontation between the bride and Bill, this movie is unfathomably brilliant. It has easily earned its way into my top 10 and may work its way higher eventually. This movie truly is the masterpiece of the century.

If by masterpiece you mean since 2000, then I can agree with you. However I would put 1 & 2 together for that title as just Kill Bill. Yes the movie is GREAT & I LOVE Vol. 2 as well because Bill's character is in it more. My favorite scene from 2 is probably when we first see Bill & he's talking to the Bride & then he meets Tommy, totally cool and relaxed like he's taking this like a man. Then as soon as the Bride & Tommy get ready here comes the Deadly Vipor Assasination Squad. Not to mention how great Budd & his boss (Larry) were!

Yea that was an awesome scene. I love the way they pan out backwards so you can see the squad waiting outside the church. But like I said, the best chapter is definetly the one with Pai Mei. Not only does it foreshadow how the bride gets out of the coffin, but it also foreshadows the way in which Bill is killed (5 point palm exploding heart tecnique).

Raggingbull, the only thing that kinda ticked me off about the movie is we never really find out how Bill met the Bride & why he liked her so much (being that she was the only one to ever see his sweet side)

This is an absolutely incredible film, but the final scene probably pisses me off more than any other final scene in any other film of the past decade. Bill and Beatrix talk for a half hour, and then the final fight lasts 10 seconds. 10 FREAKIN' SECONDS!!! Both films lead up to this final confrontation, and Beatrix makes Bill, a supposed "bad-ass", look like a joke. That's my only complaint. I still give this film **** out of ****.

That movie was soo damn good! The part where Kiddo beat Darryl Hanna was priceless. Though, I'm reluctant to buy the current dvd copies, because I think they're going to make a special edition version of it. Lots of people have been saying that.

I know its a little off topic, but I hear that Tarrentino's latest film "Hero" sucked. But the source wasnt that reliable. But did Quentin actually direct this? Or was he just a producer or something?

He did not direct it. It is on IMDB's Top list already though. O_O.

But then again, so is LOTR, Finding Nemo, and Toy Story 2. :p

Whoever told you it sucked needs to have their head examined. I thought it was awesome with great action/fighting sequences. As for Q.T., he didn't direct but he "presented" it. What that means, I have no idea.

^ And the reason it didn't suck was because Tarantino didn't direct it. By presenting it he put up some money for it, or at least it's distribution in America.

I can't wait until Tarantino's director's cut is released, which should be an uncut version of both films edited together. Like Pulp Fiction payed homage to the films of the French New Wave, Kill Bill pays homage to Asian cinema of the 60s and 70s. Tarantino once again made entertainment into an artform.

But the best three films of the decade are Dogville, Mulholland Dr., and In Praise of Love.

Hero is being presented by Tarantino, like some of the Wong Kar-Wai and Takeshi Kitano movies he helped release here in the states during the 1990s. It is supposedly great, but then again a spot in the top 250 on IMDB doesn't mean too much anymore (out of the 5 greatest movies I've ever seen, only one is on the list...yet at the same time Fight Club and The Matrix both have spots on it).

Tarantino can't direct serious films. All of his films are truly comedies, like I've said before. A seperate form, but nevertheleess comedy. Hero wouldn't have worked like that.

How is Jackie Brown a comedy? How is Pulp Fiction a comedy? His movies are written with funny lines yes. And some of the things (espeically in Jackie Brown & both Kill Bills) are overdone to be funny or made as an homage. I believe though that if Quentin wanted to make this flick, he could have.

The Director of Hero, Yimou Zhang, is considered by many to be the best Chinese director of all time, and his film Raise the Red Lantern is considered to be the best Chinese film of the 1990s. He is supposedly ranked alongside the likes of Terrence Malick and Stanley Kubrick in terms of his visual flair. And while Tarantino is a good director, none of his films are remembered because of the direction. I've read reviews for Hero and apparently the direction and cinematography is by far the best aspect of the film. So, if Tarantino directed it would it be a great film? I really don't know, but if I had to take a guess I'd say no. It at least wouldn't be as good as it is now. Then again, David Lynch has directed a G-rated movie for Disney, that is considered to be among his best, so I could be wrong.

But all of Tarantino's films are not comedies. Kill Bill and Jackie Brown both have funny moments in them, but are far from being classified next to Duck Soup or Blazing Saddles, for example. The second volume of the series in question is probably his most dramatic film. I do think he should stray away from the crime genre for a while, though, which he plans to with Inglorious Bastards.

And my wish has come true! IMDB reports Tarantino is editing the two films together for a special theatrical release, possibly next year.

Nope, but I've heard QT talk about a sequel--possibly called "Kill Bride"--which, he said, may be made about 15 years from now.

BTW, the IMDB news brief says:

Quentin Tarantino (this week's box-office winner Hero is being released under the banner "Presented by Quentin Tarantino," but it is not clear what involvement the director had with the release) is expressing optimism that the two Kill Bill movies will be released theatrically as a single film. In an interview with USA Today, Tarantino said that the success of the DVD release of the two films has made it possible for him to realize his dream of bringing a combined version to the screen, possibly by next year. So some of you guys think Kill Bill is a serious film? Again, not straight comedy. I don't have a name for it-- I call it wacky comedy. It's not a serious film, neither was Pulp Fiction or any of them.

For example, do you take the Chinese old guy teaching Uma Thurman karate scene as serious as you take The Godfather or Goodfellas? They aren't serious films.

Well what scenes in Goodfellas or Godfather. Is it compared to the "Funny how" scene in Goodfellas? But seriously, this scene was overdone to pay homeage to the early martial arts flicks that affected Quentin. I still say that Pulp & Jackie & both Kill Bills were serious, with some lighter moments written into them. They're not like My Cousin Vinny or anything like that though. It's silly, I've give you that (at least Kill Bill).

Listen, the "funny how" scene in Goodfellas is just funny. But in Kill Bill the old Chinese guy karate scene isn't even realistic, yet it's not a scene that's presented as funny-- it's just the response that is naturally going to be given.

Kill Bill isn't a real-world movie. The Godfather and Goodfellas are serious, realisitic films. Kill Bill isn't a realisitic film, and has an ironic... wacky comedy tone to it.

Just because it's not a real-world movie like Goodfellas or The Godfather, doesn't make it a comedy. It's a martial arts movie, of course it isn't real-world. Do you consider Hero to be real-world? Sure maybe the story but not the action. Does that make Hero a comedy?

I don't know how to get through to you. Hero isn't like Kill Bill. It doesn't have that tone to it. Again, I don't mean an actual comedy, but I can't think of a bettr word. It doesn't take itself seriously.

I guess there's no better way to end this discussion than from the Man himself Bill, "well my old friend, to each his own."
