. Well I do agree that it gets tiring talking about Gotti and how inept he was but I don’t get upset with anyone who asks for information. Not everyone has firsthand knowledge of everything mob related. As for Sammy I don’t like the guy but he is full of information given his position he had so it’s interesting hearing stories even though I’ve heard many before

I feel like John Gotti is a "gateway drug" guy whose profile fascinates people into LCN at first who might not have otherwise cared about the subject - but the deeper you get into it and the more you learn, the more you realize what a terrible boss he was. Guys like Ducks Corallo or Chin Gigante don't appear on the surface to be fascinating to anybody but when you really learn about these enormous enterprises they ran as if they were Fortune 500 businesses it is far more interesting than watching old clips of Gotti parading his latest Brioni suit down the 200 block of Mulberry street.

As someone who has read about all of this for far too many years I too am sick of the oversaturation of all things Gotti on the topic. Worse still are the Gravanos and Alites* of the world who try to piggyback on the Gotti coattails and make a living off it. Just a couple more of the gifts the Gotti family gave to LCN watchers.

I agree. Kuklinski was a fucking nut case, his only mob connection was buying a gun or something from the DeMeo crew. He wasn't one of them, at least no evidence to show.

No problem with people asking for intell but there r many other OC far more interesting and succesful to talk about than Gotti who has been dead for close to 20 yrs.
I also realize it's easier to talk about past criminals as there is now a greater historical perspective.
Personally trying to figure out who holds power and the true numbers of families currently in operation is a more difficult task.

From another thread on this forum there is an argument about the true size of the patriarca family.

Sammy has always maintained that Gotti wanted to kill Angelo after getting caught on tape as well and the whole Casso debacle. Sammy said he talked him out of it because Angelo was dying of cancer anyway. The Gottis Have tried to debunk this but their word means nothing lol. I’m more inclined to believe Samny because that sounds like something Gotti would say or do

Im pretty positive he was scared shitless of Casso and made peace with the Lucchese family soon after. Yet they still murdered Ed Lino and Bobby Boriello without any retaliation . Gotti was caught talking in an old lady’s apartment whereas ruggiero was caught talking on his home phone. Thats a big difference.
Tony ducks was caught talking in his own car yet no one talks about that. If Gotti wasnt caught talking in an old lady’s apartment, they would of eventually got him talking next to a lamp post. The feds bugged everything gotti went near.

Not really. I’m not defending Angelo because he was an idiot but so was Gotti. If you look at his mob career as a whole yes he became boss which is a big accomplishment but it’s full of fuck ups.

What was the timeline with Casso? Did Angelo seriously put a hit out on him for talking badly about him? That's like day one mafia code, you can't do that.

Casso was shot in September 1986. Gotti was in prison at the time so I think Angelo did it On his own. Gotti May have known about it I’m not sure. But Angelo was very impulsive and when Casso insulted him He wanted to put a hit on him. In October 86 Casso used his Mafia Cops to Abduct and torture Jimmy Hydell who gave up the names. Gotti got out of jail in March 1987 and desperately made peace with Casso. I guess Casso decided to wait a few year but in 1990 he continued his revenge by killing Gotti loyalist Ed Lino without any retaliation

From what I read amuso casso had good relations with the Gambino even after they kill big paul do you think amuso and casso would have went after all Gottis guys if there wasn't that attempt on casso life? That was Gottis right hand man. Sneak killing a guy in another family. I wonder what amuso had to say to Gotti when they both were bosses. About angelo trying to kill casso.

Al D’arco said they were going to kill all the guys around Gotti then him., but gottis high profile turned out to be his lucky break. Gotti did everything he could to remain peaceful with Casso because he didn’t want to to mess with him obviously
