After accardos death in 92 Sam Carlisli became boss until his 94 conviction for gambling along with James Marcello et al.
James Marcello was Street boss of the Melrose park crew reporting direct to Carlisli from before his 92 ascension to top boss. Marcello and the Melrose park ceased to have power after 94 imprisonment. Marcello only regained Street boss position in 2003-2005 making him briefly the 3 man in outfit.
Joseph aiuppa did not retain title of boss after 86 imprisonment because he was never top boss. Accardo was the top boss of outfit from 1943-1992 enough said.
No ub or sb ever retained title while imprisoned maybe a reason why the outfit functioned so well they didn't allow admin members to cling to power from jail.
Boss1,underboss2,Street boss3 from what I can tell from alot of research is the outfit did not have a consigliere position.
John Monteleone served as street boss from 1993-2001 the year of his death.
At same time and I know some will find this hard to believe he also served as capo of the 26th St crew. Many outfit leaders held dual roles. Monteleone took over SB duties upon difronzos 93 imprisonment in the Indian casino case which Carlisli was acquitted in.
Al tornabene took over territory left from Carlisli,Marcello crew and parts of Cicero crew as that part of outfit had recently been decimated by indictments. Being a senior member he acted as advisor to admin.
And to say that difronzo was a rat would by the same rational make Joseph andriacchi a rat but I don't hear any of that on this forum possibly because he is to my knowledge still alive.
