Most of these type guys were wild men as kids. The smarter ones mellow with age (or not).
But regardless of how many bracciole Joey may have bagged in his day, in 'the street' thats considered the norm, and a badge of honor if you will, among the bent-nose set. What is NOT the norm, nor condoned, is to allow your woman to do the same!
A double standard? You bettcha! But thats the way it is. Especially in the underworld. It is a MAJOR slap in the face to any knock around guy (let alone a goodfella) to allow somebody, anybody, to stick his cannoli in your woman's sfogliatelle. Period!

That's for sure about the double standard. Not to mention the way they dictated the lives of daughters,nieces,female in laws,female relatives, etc besides their wives.They were like the taliban.. They told the women everything they could and couldn't do. .The way they could dress,wear their hair,where they could go,how much money they could spend.And had a long list of forbidden things for the women
