Mafia bust in Bagheria, 8 arrests for extortion, management of betting shops, drug trafficking and attempted murder.
Together with Massimiliano Ficano, 46, considered by investigators to be the new Mafia boss of Bagheria, even his most trusted men were arrested today. They are Gino Catalano (44 years old), Bartolomeo Scaduto (26 years old), Giuseppe Cannata (37 years old), Salvatore D'Acquisto, Giuseppe Sanzone (54 years old) and Carmelo Fricano (73 years old).
The boss boasted to his loyalists that he had been initiated into the organization by the mafia close to Bernardo Provenzano who in the past had dealt with the hiding of the Corleonese godfather.
The investigations of the carabinieri would have ascertained the passage of the command of the Bagheria family from Onofrio Catalano (known as 'Gino') to Massimiliano Ficano , considered more authoritative, and who had the support and strong link with the life-imprisoned mafia boss Onofrio Morreale.
