The New Kensington crew still lives through some of the best chocolate candies in the country especially their dark chocolate turtles :-) In the book "I heard you paint houses" Frank Sheeran talks about driving Russ Bufalino to New Ken occasionally to visit with Kelly. They were great friends and did a lot of business together. The two of them would engage in all day red sauce cooking sessions. He also mentions how Russ was so upset when he saw Kelly after he got cancer and went down to 100 pounds that he cried. Sheeran raved about the giant chocolate Easter eggs that Catoris made, and how he would send them to his lawyers wives when he was in jail. Kelly's oldest daughter Georgienne married Dr. Russel Samuel Buffalino in an arranged marriage in New Ken on 11/4/1966, supposedly Big Russel's nephew(Dr. Russel's dad was Sam Bufalino). Reception afterwards at The Holiday House with more than700 guests, Kelly spent over $30/plate according to FBI files. That's a lot of money in 1966. Some articles say Dr. Russel was Boss Russel's son, others say nephew. Who really knows? Joe Bufalino was the best man, not sure who his dad is. Dr Russel graduated Temple and John Carrol Universities. He was practicing at Pymatuning Medical Center at the time of the wedding. Side note, all out of town guests stayed at the Holiday Inn in New Kensington, but there would be no record of any of them as Son of slain boss, and future Boss after Genovese - John Bazzano jr's brother Paul Bazzano owns and runs the hotel and made sure no records were kept of anyone intown for the wedding. He also made sure no FBI agents could snoop around or park in the lot. There are tons of neat details in the FBI files like that regarding this weeding.

There have been many posts on this Board about the legendary Holiday House. They are definitely worth a read.
To guys from our area, this place was like the Copa in NYC.
I'd love to se a well done Documentary on it's history.
National acts, first class dining, beautifully decorated rooms, and of course, the local "patrons" ,both famous and infamous. There are not as many photos online from inside the Holiday House at events as I would expect, or at least would like to see. but I agree, from everything I ready, it was the "it" Spot for all the Famous and Infamous as you put it.

Somewhere I have a picture pf Frank Sinatra and Wango Capizzi when Frank appeared at the Holiday House. Michael was a well known "regular" at the Holiday House and could often be seen with a great lookin' lady :-)
