Lansky had two guys killed and sent into the lake, New York Genovese hitman is said to have dumped half a dozen bodies in the lake from 1950s to 1960s, Los Angeles family associate is said to have been dumped in the lake. No telling who is in the lake. But not George Vandermark or William Crespo. I believe that Vandermark was killed by Jimmy LaPietra and a couple of other Chicago associates in Arizona and buried there. Crespo disappeared before he was set to testify at a trial, but was lured by an old acquaintance from Miami to a meeting, which was a trap. Crespo gets labeled as a mob hit, but everything points to old ties before Crespo hooked up with the mob, his body won't be found in Nevada, and the rumor is that the Puerto Ricans dismembered him.

At its height in 1983, Lake Mead was 1,225 feet above sea level. But as the climate crisis fuels a prolonged mega-drought in the West, the lake, which serves as the nation's largest reservoir, has plummeted to sobering levels. This year it hit its lowest level since it was filled in the 1930s.
One possible scenario for the second two remains is that they belong to people who previously drowned at the lake when water levels were high, a National Parks Service spokesperson told CNN. Recovery divers are limited on how deep they can go, so some drowning victims' remains do not get recovered, they said.

Scott Burnstein's latest podcast talks about Lake Mead and some info of how Spilotro was thinking of taking over the entire Chicago outfit I think thats largely a fallacy. How was he supposed to do that, from Vegas? He resided in Nevada. He didn't even run a crew of inducted members if memory serves me. For all his notoriety and newspaper print, Tony Spilotro was only a soldier rank. He didn't even have a contingent of "soldiers" under him. So how was he supposed to pull off "seizing" the entire Chicago Outfit out from under a large hierarchy of inducted Mafia capos and dozens and dozens of soldiers? By magic? Unsubstantiated law enforcement and media rumors circle around and around until these "false" storylines gain traction. Within a few decades these silly rumors become "gospel." But, for me anyway, thats all they are. BS and false rumors. Spilotro's "Hole in the Wall Gang" largely consisted of a rag-tag bunch of "uninitiated" local hoodlums and heist guys of varied ethnicities who followed his dictates in Vegas. Most of these fellows didn't even understand the depth or machinations of Cosa Nostra, or the membership that comprised it back in Chi-Town, let alone had the desire or wherewithal to attempt such a MASSIVE power play.

Not Chicago, it was Las Vegas, my mistake. The Chicago story is the embellishment of Spilotro taking over Las Vegas. That I can see. As it was Spilotro had pretty much become the highest profile mob figure along the Vegas strip (if not actually the biggest mob guy there. As Jace correctly mentioned there were many goodfellas living and active in LV from around the country). But the allegation he was "taking over" Vegas played to the media and public, and also allowed local law enforcement to look good going after him. And as far as guys in LA egging him on against Chicago or other mob guys? Never happen. Dominick Brooklier, Locicero, and the rest of them weren't that stupid to back a mere soldier (and a known half-a-whack-job at that) against "brothers" of theirs in Chicago and elsewhere. They would have gotten a kick in their asses so fast, been sanctioned, and even been forced to step down. Never happened IMO.

Spilotro's brother Patrick, who was the dentist that dropped the dime on Lombardo for family secrets, claimed that Lombardo told him if he was out, Tony would not have been touched. I don't necessarily believe that because the reason guys like Aiuppa, Cerone, LaPietra went to jail was largely due to the fact that Tony was bringing insane amounts of heat on them. When any of those 3 guys wanted someone gone, they were gonna go.

Spilotro's brother, Patrick.... RATTED? So he got his brother's KILLED? No. His brother was a dentist. In 2005, Joey was on the lam and scheduled an appt with Dr Spilotro for some kind of procedure. Dr. Pat Spilotro was able to help the feds find Joey after like 6 months on the run. He also testified at family secrets I believe but you'll have to double check that.
