That I can see. As it was Spilotro had pretty much become the highest profile mob figure along the Vegas strip (if not actually the biggest mob guy there. As Jace correctly mentioned there were many goodfellas living and active in LV from around the country).

But the allegation he was "taking over" Vegas played to the media and public, and also allowed local law enforcement to look good going after him.

And as far as guys in LA egging him on against Chicago or other mob guys? Never happen. Dominick Brooklier, Locicero, and the rest of them weren't that stupid to back a mere soldier (and a known half-a-whack-job at that) against "brothers" of theirs in Chicago and elsewhere. They would have gotten a kick in their asses so fast, been sanctioned, and even been forced to step down. Never happened IMO.
