99. GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER (1967)
A film made 55 years ago that's almost as applicable today as it was at the time of its release. I haven't seen enough Sidney Poitier films but he's on point with his portrayal of Dr. John Prentice: he's extremely thoughtful and well mannered, humble, educated, respectful, etc. Meanwhile his finance (played by the lovely 22-year-old Katharine Houghton, niece of star Katharine Hepburn), Christina is a strong willed and free spirited young woman. Both sets of parents are extremely old fashioned in their thinking (although having grown up in difficult times themselves, who are we to judge by today's standards?), in particular both fathers. An obvious social commentary tale about acceptance, beliefs, and predisposed dispositions. 7/10

83. PLATOON (1986)
One of the best, not only films about Vietnam, but war in general. How Tom Berenger didn't win an Oscar for this I'll never know. A troubling tale about a divided platoon in 1969 Vietnam with a young and star-studded cast such as Charlie Sheen, Willem Dafoe, Forest Whitaker, Keith David, Tony Todd, Johnny Depp, and Berenger. 8/10

Also, anyone with Peacock, I recommend watching CASEY ANTHONY: WHERE THE TRUTH LIES. 3 part documentary series where Casey gives her first onscreen interview since her acquittal over 10 years ago. I didn't know much about the case beforehand (I just knew she was convicted in the court of public opinion of killing her 3-year-old daughter). However, the documentary changed my mind about it. A lawyer friend of mine schooled me on that case a few years back. Like the rest of the world I had been drinking the media Kool-Aid, totally on board with the idea that Casey Anthony was a horrible human who deserved the death penalty. There is no doubt in my mind that she and her kid were abused by her monster of a father. I've not seen the documentary, but I have a feeling it will change A LOT of peoples minds, thankfully. A couple of friends of mine have came around as well. I can't even begin to imagine what that woman has gone through.
But you had to play it cool, had to do it your way Had to be a fool, had to throw it all away

I agree, the media storm is what did it for me (that and the allegations against her father).
