The 2023 Dead Pool (Our 16th Annual!)

GOAL: Predict which notable* figures will die on/between January 1 and December 31, 2023, Eastern Time.

Produce a maximum of 50 names, to be PM'ed to me (NOT posted here) before the ball drops in Times Square (NYC) at midnight on New Years (i.e., 12AM ET, January 1, 2023). The BB's default timestamp will determine entry time, but I often post after midnight so the west coast has a little extra time.

*It's assumed that all notable figures will have an entry, or be mentioned in an entry, at Google, Wikipedia or another legit source which you may have to prove.

Rules:

1) PLEASE alphabetize your list of 50 names by LAST name (regardless of profession), either in the form of FIRSTNAME LASTNAME -or- LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME, in *1* column of names.

2) If it's not obvious who the person is for most people, after the name please add why they're notable. For example: "Douglas Fraser, trade unionist" (Sorry, he's already dead). In addition, you may or may not choose to include the person's current age; for example: "Douglas Fraser, trade unionist (91)"

3) If you submit your list days before Midnight, January 1st, 2023, and someone on your list dies before 2023, you should substitute the person with another and resubmit your list (by the deadline). If you do not resubmit your list, and the person died in 2021, the person will obviously NOT count for 2023.

4) a) Thou Shalt Not Kill (anyone on your list); b) criminals subject to the Death Penalty or anyone kidnapped or held hostage in 2022 won't count -- unless they die of natural causes; c) "Dead" means permanently dead, not later revived, nor put in animated suspension, or any induced or natural coma starting before 2023 begins; d) do not edit Wikipedia with false death information.

Everyone's lists will be updated unofficially throughout the year, but year-end audits should be performed to determine the final winner sometime shortly after December 31, 2023. YOU are responsible for your own audit at years' end.

Drummer Bachman-Turner Overdrive passed away: 'Maybe Jeff Beck needs him'
Drummer Robbie Bachman, one of the founding members of the Canadian rock band Bachman-Turner Overdrive, has died at the age of 69. His older brother Randy Bachman, the frontman and guitarist of the group, has announced this on Twitter. A cause of death has not been disclosed.
“Another sad loss,” writes Bachman. “Maybe Jeff Beck needs a drummer,” he says, referring to the British guitarist who also died earlier this week.

Probably the prettiest of all the European bombshells who went off in the 60s. That group - Loren, Andress, Bardot, Cardinale, et al. - have shown remarkable longevity. I fear this loss may break the dam.

I just read that Lisa Loring (the original Wednesday Addams)passed away about a week ago @ age 64.

Very sad indeed. I saw a photo of her taken just a few months ago (posted on the Internet) at a Chiller Theater convention and she looked very bad.

Her death was due to a stroke caused by high blood pressure (hypertension).

This was, IMHO, preventable. As someone who has had this same problem for many years, I can say from experience - SEE YOUR DOCTOR!!! GET THIS UNDER CONTROL! IT CAN BE DONE!!

I'm living proof.

Sorry for the rant.

For many reasons, I live by this mantra: Every day is a blessing.

Claudia Cardinale was my favorite!

I hate to admit it, but I've actually seen that film on TV a couple of times - and Geez! - talk about an inauspicious debut!

I remember seeing One Million Years BC in the local movie theatre back in the day. I used to make amateur stop motion 8mm movies and was a big Ray Harryhausen fan. But, after seeing Raquel Welch, I confess that those rubber dinosaurs definitely took a back seat!

Robert Blake aka "Barretta" dead thursday march 9th.

Producer-director Bert I. Gordon died March 8 at the age of 100.

Known as "Mr. B.I.G.", he wrote and/or directed many famous (and infamous) low-budget horror and sci-films, primarily in the 1950's and 1960's, though his career actually spanned over five decades. Films like The Amazing Colossal Man, War of the Colossal Beast, Earth vs. the Spider, Tormented, The Magic Sword, Village of the Giants and a whole lot of others.

If you are of a certain age, you probably saw a number of his films on TV, even if you didn't recognize his name.

I believe I was the only one who picked him.
