Mafia, Gratteri: "Riina was stupid and 'Ndrangheta took advantage of it" January 20, 2023 | 15.29 READING: 1 minutes The prosecutor of Catanzaro: "While Cosa Nostra was waging the stupid war against the state with massacres, the Calabrian clans became leaders in the importation of cocaine into Europe"
" Riina was an idiot . He was an idiot, he wasn't intelligent. He was just violent . To be a boss you don't have to be violent, you have to be intelligent". This was stated by the prosecutor of Catanzaro Nicola Gratteri, speaking in the Senate at the Sala Caduti of Nassirya at the presentation of the portal 'Scelgo la vita'. And while Cosa Nostra waged, with the massacres, the "stupid war against the State" it was the 'Ndrangheta who took advantage of it , to the point, he recalled, that today "it is the leader in the importation of cocaine in Europe".
The prosecutor then urged Justice Minister Nordio to intervene on prison overcrowding . "There are thousands of kids who are detained because of their drug addiction . What do we want them to do in there? Let's try to get them to go to a therapeutic community - advocated the magistrate -. An inmate in prison costs 200 euros while in a therapeutic community 50 to 80 euros So let's keep these kids in the therapeutic community: out of four, two or three they will make it... And we even save money! These are the things that Nordio should discuss, not leave the overcrowding. Will some escape? Maybe, we'll get them back. It's a risk. But it's not that we don't do things because one can risk running away…”, he added.

Riina was used to do the dirty work and that's it. Indeed although Provenzano didn't object the massacres he was always the more intelligent mafia boss MMD also. So I agree Riina was an idiot, but everybody was afraid of him even his own men. After the murder of Salvo Lima it became a big mess politically also.

Italy’s highest court confirms sentences for Marsascala mafia extortion beating The daughter of a ‘Ndrangheta clan boss will serve almost four and a half years in prison for arranging the trip to Malta to extort money, while her partner and two associates will serve over 10 years and eight years respectively for administering a beating to an Italian contractor The Shift Team January 23, 2023 14:05 Francesca Rispoli, the daughter of imprisoned ‘Ndrangheta mafia boss Vincenzo Rispoli, has had her four-year, five-month and 10-day sentence for her role in an extortion beating that took place in Malta confirmed.
Italy’s Supreme Court of Cassation, the country’s highest court of appeal, has confirmed her original sentence, as well as the sentences of her cohorts, in the Malta operation.
Judges also convicted ‘Ndrangheta associates brothers Michele and Giuseppe Di Novara to eight years each, as well as Giovanni Lillo, Rispoli’s partner, to 10 years and eight months incarceration for carrying out a brutal beating of businessman Giovanni D’Alessandro in Marsascala in January 2020.
All four were also charged with mafia aggravating circumstances over their involvement in a ‘Ndrangheta mafia clan that operates in Legnano, just outside of Milan.
D’Alessandro, who lived in Malta at least at the time and owns Valmeda Srl, a building company that was working at several construction sites in Malta, owed some €3,000 to two of the three assailants for off-the-books illegal work they had done between November 2019 and January 2020.
The three assailants had travelled to Malta on 25 January 2020 on an Air Malta flight from Linate Airport, with tickets booked by the 31-year-old mafia boss’ daughter Francesca Rispoli.
The savage beating they administered D’Alessandro left him hospitalised with broken ribs and teeth.
Anti-mafia prosecutors’ phone taps between the assailants and relatives show how they bragged about brutally punching and kicking the victim, with Lillo giving Rispoli details of the attack saying that “there was blood everywhere and teeth all over the floor”. Lillo also bragged to his wife about having sabotaged D’Alessandro’s heavy machinery.
According to investigations coordinated by Colonel Antonio Coppola and Lieutenant Colonel Cataldo Pantaleo, the three left for Malta at the end of January 2020 with the aim of getting paid by D’Alessandro.
Giuseppe ‘Zio Pino’ Di Novara told Francesca Rispoli in the phone intercepts, “I broke it all…all full of blood… I have the keys and the phone… I have the fanny pack…he doesn’t even have a lira.”
“Love, I went bowling tonight, I got a strike,” a message Lillo sent to his wife said.
“I punched him from underneath,” he then told a friend when he returned to Italy. “His teeth were crushed, I gave him the first punch under the chin and after that he didn’t understand anything.”
The details of the beating have been confirmed in a medical report from Mater Dei Hospital, where the businessman had himself treated that evening.
The report listed, trauma wounds, the loss of several teeth, back abrasions, a hematoma on the left side of the head, a fracture of the 12th rib, a suspected fracture of the tenth rib, and a slight left-sided collapsed lung.
Rispoli is recorded as having encouraged and applauded them, saying in the recording, “This way he’ll know the ‘Ndrangheta still exists”.
After the phone taps, an investigation was conducted by the Carabinieri and arrests were made in September 2020.
The mafia charges come from investigators’ line of reasoning that the perpetrators acted “in order to facilitate the consortium activities of the Legnano-Lonate Pozzolo branch of the ‘Ndrangheta”.
The branch is believed to be the most powerful in Lombardy. It is run by the Rispolis and is linked to the Farao clan in Cirò Marina.

Hungarian and Italian police have carried out an operation against the ‘Ndrangheta criminal organisation. During a joint action day, eight persons were arrested. They are suspected of mafia-type criminal association, international money laundering and fraudulent transfer of values.
The operation is a follow-up to a wider investigation concluded in 2019 against the same criminal organisation.
In addition to the eight arrests, investigators seized assets worth approximately EUR 3 million, including bank accounts, real estate, vehicles and a yacht. Four real estate companies were also seized, three of which in Budapest and one in Milan.

Anna Sergi reported that drugbroker Giorgio Sale already died in 2015 , semi-unknown in Italy (where he will later be convicted of drug trafficking), but who in Colombia, however, had restaurants, bars, real estate, used for money laundering. The Sale group was also based in California, I believe his son took over his father's business. She talked about the 'Ndrangheta with the authorities of Colombia. The 'Ndrangheta here is different from some European countries and the globalized North (also extended to Australia, for economic and social reasons). Already from the beginning of this meeting, attended by selected units of Interpol, Fiscalia, and other members of the police forces - we start talking about who is who , in the contemporary 'Ndrangheta, and especially who is not who . The 'Ndrangheta, here in Colombia is a mostly abstract organization whose structure is little known - and it is of little use to Colombians to know it - which occasionally presents itself with individuals of Italian origin who move in a large and complex drug market. Calabrian crime has been participating in this market for years, whose protagonists, however, are all local . https://icalabresi.it/rubriche/ndrangheta-colombia-i-can-e-i-calabresi-affari-narcos/

'Ndrangheta, "Aemilia": over 8 million confiscated from Antonio Muto of the Cutro clan 01 February 2023
These are assets for an estimated value of around 8,500,000 euros confiscated from a prominent exponent of the autonomous 'Ndrangheta association, active in the territories of Reggio Emilia, Parma, Modena and Piacenza, historically linked to the Cutro gang (KR) headed by to Nicolino Grande Aracri .
Antonio Muto , born in 1955, definitively sentenced on 7 May 2022 to 10 years and 8 months' imprisonment as part of the " Aemilia " operation for mafia-type association, is currently in prison.
The figure of the convict is that of a very active participant in the Emilian 'Ndrangheta association, observing the hierarchies and rules dictated by the bosses, faithful to the directives received, shared and implemented, a link between the mafia clan and representatives of local institutions, thus allowing the strengthening and the economic expansion of the partnership, clearly entrepreneurial.
The investigations carried out by the DIA made it possible to identify a set of assets which the convict had access to and demonstrate that their value was disproportionate to the income declared and the economic activity carried out.
The confiscation order affected 50 properties including a luxury villa in Reggio Emilia, industrial warehouses, land, a real estate company, a vehicle and 12 bank relationships. The entire assets, which passed definitively into the hands of the State, will be administered by the National Agency for Seized and Confiscated Assets.

The first civilian infiltrator in the 'ndrangheta.
From infiltrator to narcos, to Mammasantissima the "dangerous life" of Bruno Fuduli
Editorial staff -3 February 2023 15:06 From infiltrator to narcos, to Mammasantissima the "dangerous life" of Bruno Fuduli - Video
by Vincenzo Imperitura
When, in 2018, Bruno Fuduli tries to get closer to the carabinieri del Ros to tell the new folds taken on by the cocaine market on a global level , his life already resembles that of the protagonist of a novel. The first civilian infiltrator in the history of the fight against narcos , Fuduli helped the Italian investigators carry out one of the most important police operations - the Decollo investigation coordinated by the Catanzaro anti-mafia district - in history. Of him the marble company used by the Calabrian clans to transport to the port of Gioia Taurotons of cocaine hidden inside the stones, and used by the carabinieri as a Trojan horse to put an end to the river of cocaine that flooded Europe through the Calabrian port of call . [Continued below]
Recommended by Faithful to his "character" Fuduli, a few years later, he will jump the quail passing through the ranks of the bad guys. Arrested in 2010 and sentenced in the first instance for drug trafficking as part of Operation Overloading , in 2018 he reconnected with the investigators to whom he recounted the transformations and evolutions of the cocaine market. At the center of the discussion are the brokers of the clans , who collect the money necessary for the operations, and the paths that must be followed to bring the white powder from the three producing countries ( Colombia, Bolivia and Peru ) to the sales markets in the USA, Europe and Australia.

![[Linked Image]](https://news.italy24.press/temp/resized/medium_2023-02-08-d142d9b681.jpg) 'Ndrangheta fugitive arrested in Bali 32-year-old had been on the run for seven years (ANSA) - ROME, FEB 8 - A member of the Calabria-based 'Ndrangheta mafia who had been on the run for seven years has been arrested by Indonesian police at Bali airport after being tracked down with the help of Italy's Carabinieri police, the force said on Wednesday. Antonio Strangio, 32, was hit by an Interpol Red Notice and detained after landing. Allegedly linked to the San Luca 'Ndrangheta clan, he is wanted over accusations of narcotic production and trafficking, with the use of mafia methods an aggravating factor. His case is related to the Eclissi operation that led to the arrest of 11 people in July 2015. Strangio fled Italian Italian justice in 2016 and went to Australia where, with the help of the fact he has dual Italian-Australia citizenship, he was able to avoid extradition. His arrest took place on February 2 but the authorities did not make the news public until now. The news comes just days after "'Ndrangheta chef" Edgardo Greco, who had been on the run for 17 years, was arrested in Saint Etienne, France. Greco is set to serve a life sentence for two murders. Strangio's arrest takes the number of Italian fugitives arrested around the world up to 42 in under three years. (ANSA).
