Destruction after entering building Bolsonaro supporters storm Brazil's parliament
BRASILIA - Angry supporters of the far-right former president Jair Bolsonaro stormed Congress in the capital Brasilia on Sunday. They also illegally gained access to the Supreme Court and surrounded the presidential Planalto Palace. The police tried to drive them out of the three pillars of democracy with tear gas. Prince Harry praises Willem-Alexander for acknowledging slavery history Updated 2 hours ago
WASHINGTON - Prince Harry has praised King Willem-Alexander and Norwegian King Harald for recently speaking out about their countries' slavery past. Harry did this in a special broadcast on ABC channel on the occasion of his new book Spare . The British prince said they are "leading examples."
The Duke of Sussex made that statement when it came to the way the British press has treated him and his wife Meghan. He noted that monarchs in other countries have made strides in condemning such behavior. For example, Harry praised that King Willem-Alexander "recognized that slavery and colonialism played a role in shaping the country, and he has apologized for this."
Harry praised King Harald for speaking out against racism. He did this to defend his daughter Märtha Louise's relationship with Durek Verrett, an American shaman.
In his Christmas speech, Willem-Alexander followed the apologies Prime Minister Mark Rutte had previously offered on behalf of the government.

I don't think his family is the real problem he speaks fondly about King Charles but more the institution and the British tabloids who are ruthless! I think he has been traumatized by the death of his mother and blames the paparazzi.

Apparently the 6 year old has intellectual and behavioral disabilities. I don't know if his special education was for him alone, or if the entire class he was in was a "special education" class. But the child was in a very rare “individualized education program” or IEP, which is provided to students with disabilities under federal law.
Regarding the disability, the family said the boy “was under a care plan at the school that included his mother or father attending school with him and accompanying him to class every day.”
But for whatever reasons, there was no parent with the child the day of the shooting. And... get this...
The superintendent of Newport News schools revealed last week that Richneck administrators had learned the child may have had a weapon before the shooting. But a search did not find the handgun, despite staff looking through his bag.
Ellenson told The Associated Press by phone Thursday evening that his understanding is that the gun was in the mother’s closet on a top shelf that was well over six feet high. The weapon also had a trigger lock that requires a key, similar to a bike lock.
I think is room here for many lawsuits from the parents of students that witnessed this shooting, against the school district.

The bodycam footage. Honestly, I don't know much about the case excepts bits and pieces but I know everyone was talking about the footage being released today.
Black on black violence this time. It's not just systemic racism, it's a police thing. At the end of the day, it's a mouthing off to the cops thing. It's only a matter of time before we see teachers beating the shit out of kids. One can only deal with so much with their profession. I don't know what he did, but those five cops beat the shit out of him. Lesson to all, don't resist!

I agree this guy resisted and ran off and if he rolled over , laid down and allowed himself to be cuffed he would be alive.
However, these five men had no right to murder him and they did murder him. These unprofessional, poorly trained so called officers were so mad that they were so incapable of properly detaining the man they beat the actual life out of him and it’s a sin.

We're learning more about what exactly happened at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News, Va. on January 6, 2023. That's the day a 6-year-old boy shot his teacher, 25-year-old Abby Zwerner. We've learned Zwerner and her attorney, Diane Toscano, sent a notice to Newport News Public Schools of intent to file a lawsuit. Sarah Hammond takes us through the timeline for that day, laid out by Zwerner and Toscano.

Professional football player Christian Atsu, who was buried under the rubble by the strong earthquake, has been pulled out alive from under the debris. Mustafa Özat, manager of his employer Hatayspor, confirmed this to reliable Turkish media. “Christian Atsu was pulled from the rubble with injuries. Unfortunately, our sporting director Taner Savut is still under the rubble,” said Özat.

On the morning of February 6, a pair of powerful earthquakes, 7.8 and 7.6, hit Turkey and Syria. On top of that, the region was hit with strong aftershocks, which made the destruction even worse. The death toll is already in the tens of thousands with many victims still lying beneath the rubble.
Multiple factors led to this earthquake being so devastating, like fault lines, neighborhoods still reeling from war and delayed rescue missions. But what made this earthquake particularly catastrophic was unsafe buildings. According to the Turkish government, over 6,000 buildings collapsed because of this earthquake. And that’s likely because of the way they were built.
This video will explain how bad building design made the Turkey-Syria earthquake more deadly than it had to be.
U.S. officials said Monday that a significant portion of the balloon's payload was recovered on Monday. The reconnaissance platform was estimated to be 30-feet-long and contained all of craft's tech gear and antennas.
"Recovery operations concluded Feb. 16 off the coast of South Carolina, after U.S. Navy assets assigned to U.S. Northern Command successfully located and retrieved debris from the high-altitude PRC surveillance balloon shot down Feb. 4, 2023," it said in a statement.
"Final pieces of debris are being transferred to the Federal Bureau of Investigation Laboratory in Virginia for counterintelligence exploitation, as has occurred with the previous surface and subsurface debris recovered," the statement said. "U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard vessels have departed the area. Air and maritime safety perimeters have been lifted."
l will give you my thoughts on the horrible Norfolk Southern train derailment at East Palestine, Ohio. It is so very sad to see events like this happen. It is not good for the community nor for the railroad industry.
That was an eastbound NS general merchandise freight train which derailed on main track 1. As a result of the derailment, 38 rail cars derailed and a fire ensued that damaged an additional 12 cars. There were 20 total hazardous material cars in the train consist, 10 of which derailed,

The air fryers, priced between $70 and $130, were sold at retailers nationwide from June 2018 through December 2022.
The recalled units were sold at brick and mortar retailers including Best Buy, Target and The Home Depot, as well as online retailers including Amazon, Bed Bath and Beyond, Homegoods, Kohl's, Lowe's, Macy's, QVC and Walmart, among others.
Susan Zimmerman was among the passengers on board Lufthansa Flight 469 when it encountered the severe turbulence on Wednesday.
Zimmerman, who is from Austin and five months pregnant, told CNN she had just finished eating and was about to go to the lavatory when the turbulence hit.
“During dinner service, there suddenly was a wind shear, the plane increased altitude, then we fell 1,000 feet,” she said.
“It was like unexpectedly free-falling for five seconds off the top of a rollercoaster, plates and glassware were up at the ceiling, and my purse from the floor flew behind me to the right.”
She noted that on two occasions the plane felt like it was dropping suddenly and she could hear people screaming and glass breaking.
“I’m glad for the most part we are all OK. This was pretty shocking,” said Zimmerman. “There was a moment of ‘oh my God, am I going to meet my daughter.’”
Once the plane settled, she said items from the dinner service had been littered throughout the cabin as though there had been a food fight on board.
