This was the suspected gunman. They caught up to him a couple of years after Nick Jr's murder. From what I've read on here, it's suspected that Tony Magi owed him money and made his move to eliminate his debt with Vito Sr. in prison and Nick Jr. vulnerable because of it. They eventually caught up to him too after several attempts.

There's two stories. One is Tony Magi has Ducarme Joseph do it because of the debts he owed Nicky Jr. The other story is Ducarme Joseph did it on his own to have Tony Magi indebted to him.

Ducarme Joseph was killed in 2014. A previous attempt to kill him took place in 2010. Tony Magi was killed in 2019.

According to Andrew Scoppa, those responsible were Tony Magi and Ducarme Joseph.

A few months after his murder two people died in a hail of bullets in a ritzy boutique called FlawNego owned by Ducarme Joseph.

How could it be possible that a business man would kill the son of one of the most powerful men on earth at the time.

Vito Sr. wasn’t in jail for life and the grandfather was still alive and well acting as a proxy for his son.
Killing Vito jr did NOT wipe away his debt.

So the motive does not make any sense.

The motive makes perfect sense. Tony Magi owed a lot of money to them. If you read what I said the 2nd story of what happened makes the most sense that Ducarme Joseph did it on his own to have Tony Magi indebted to him.

And Ducarme Joseph wasn't just anyone. At the time he was definitely one of the more noteworthy gang bosses in Canada.
Haitians already had a ton of pull in the Montreal drug trade and they were looking to expand their operations. It makes perfect sense they were out to have a construction magnate like Magi indebted to them.

Vendetta- all day long yes.

Gang-member- yes they will try to kill any white-boy for a few bucks.
Their own mothers for a few bucks more.

Makes-sense.

An associate of the Rizzutto family kill the son, NAH, it does not squash the debt.

So if the motive was to squash the debt, that plan does NOT accomplish that.

What would happen is the guy that did or ordered the killing will his/themselves just get killed when the father either A. Figured it out, B. Came home from jail:

I.E. in the 1960’s I owed $250K, to Joe Bonanno the boss, Joe Bonnano gets pinched, he is in jail for 10 years.

So what I do now because I don’t want to pay,
the debt I go and kill Bill Bonanno, who at the time is acting boss for his father.

What fate lies ahead for me?

His associate Federico del Peschio was killed behind La Cantina restaurant in Ahuntsic on August 21, 2009[44]
His eldest son, Nicolo Rizzuto Jr., was gunned down on December 28, 2009, in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough of Montreal[9][10]
His brother-in-law and consigliere Paolo Renda disappeared on May 20, 2010, also in Montreal, and is believed to be dead[11]
His associate Agostino Cuntrera was executed in broad daylight on June 29, 2010 in the Saint-Leonard borough of Montreal[45]
His father, notorious crime boss Nicolo Rizzuto, was killed by a sniper through his kitchen window on November 10, 2010, at the age of 86[46]

That's exactly what happened both were killed.

Which subsequent murders are you referring to? Joseph, Magi, and the guys who got killed in the attempt on Joseph's life?

Scoppa said the murders of Del Peschio and Nick Rizzuto Jr were not carried out by the same group that was responsible for the 2010 murders (Paolo Renda's disappearance, the killings of Agostino Cuntrera and Nicolo Rizzuto). The latter murders were carried out by the Montagna-Desjardins-Di Maulo group.
