How do you guys feel about this. It's based on his recent book which is a prequel/sequel to the movie.

On one hand i feel like a quintessential classic like Heat doesn't need a sequel, but then again it's Michael Mann and the book is pretty great from what I hear

A bad prequel/sequel will not take away anything from the original so I'm looking forward to it!

Don't forget Michael Mann's 1995 masterpiece Heat is a remake of his earlier TV movie L.A. Takedown.

Just viewed a clip of L.A. Takedown. It's like watching Pope of Greenwich Village 40 years later.

Haha Mann did it after Miami Vice in 1989.

Eddie Bunker was a very important consultant to Mann that's probably why Heat comes so close to real life crime. In my opinion the best crime movie ever.

yep it's my favorite crime film of all time.... I think i might even enjoy it more than the mafia classics like Goodfellas, Godfather etc. even though I recognize though are probably greater films..as much as I love those films, Heat is one of the few movies that i can always watch whenever it's on

Hollander, what are your views on Mann's debut film Thief?

Thief is great but it has been a long time since I watched it also love collateral.
