Yes Pop was the first music at school parties etc..also hiphop but when house music came around we were blown away lol.

Most of my friends growing up were into MJ, GNR, Metallica and rap

Can't say I'm all that surprised H. The Dutch have always been more into electro than everyone else. Your country doesn't have the best DJs for nothing

Don't forget House was in the late 1980s something we never heard before ofcourse we knew disco but these beats with the four-four time and rousing bass lines was a new thing.

Lol only a select few around me where into that in the '80s. We needed time to get used to that sound. I'll say this though, when Snap came around, there was a shift

The thing is when I grew up they mixed everything disco, reggae, rap, new wave, pop, house etc..
