I think this is similar to what we saw in Chicago with Art Rachel and Jerry Scalise. Legendary jewel thieves in their 80s trying to rob a bank. I personally don't think its about the money - its about the adrenaline of a score in some cases. It's really funny to see these older guys doing violent work - this was far from breaking parking meters, this was expensive shit and you can bet your ass these guys made a lot of other scores they got away with.

I gotta wonder what you would actually 'take home' from a $2M score after fencing the jewels - perhaps a few hundred K each - that's a full year salary for most Americans.
