FOH - I am pretty sure NYM alrweady did an article on Big John, so I left him off my guess, but he absolutely fits the description.

Yes NYM did a rather rather detailed story on the John LaRocca era in Pittsburgh, I just want John on this list :-)

If it's not Raymond Patriarca or Carlos Marcello, then I give up. Although I also thought about Joseph DiGiovanni from Kansas City; he remained the "power behind the throne" in his family for a very long period, I think.

Willie Marfeo to Henry Tameleo:

1) "You people want a loaf of bread and you throw the crumbs back. Well, fuck you. I ain't closing down."

2) "Get out of here, old man. Go tell Raymond to go shit in his hat. We're not giving you anything."

I'm working on this right now as I write this. Trying my best to get all this background info all together. Then I gotta first organize the chronology of his life so it makes sense....But we'll get there (one way or another) LOL

Ralphie,

That's the joy in the way we do things...builds intrigue. But I can guarantee you, it's a story well worth waiting for (even if you haven't guessed the name) and will thoroughly enjoy once you read it.

But Giancana was notorious, not shadowy.

He was behind the scenes of many famous events including the election of JFK, the murder of Monroe and many other Huge events without being named or ever mentioned in the time frame, i gotta consider that shadowy.

Giancana is not the subject of my story...nor could he be. As Liggio pointed out, Giancana was way too brash, among other detractors.

Civella or Gizzo? Or Scalish? grin

No TD. Lol. I'm afraid not. But good choices anyway. Especially Scalish IMO.

But I will say this much...

The story's done! I just completed it an hour or so ago and it's currently in the 'hopper' in the design phrase. But it a long and complex story. (a deep-dive expose' really) with lots of photographs as well. So it is gonna take a bit to design properly.

ButtonGuys just posted an expose about the remarkable life and career of "Representante" Santo Volpe.

This was the iconic mafioso we were alluding to...
