Tommy Gambino had the well earned reputation as a gentleman and businessman, as much as a so-called mafioso. In fact, he was really more a businessman, He was not a hoodlum type. But with a multi-multimillion dollar inheritance from his father and the position his father put him in as a mafioso as well as a garment mogul in control of a huge block of the garment district through trucking and dress shops, I guess he really didn't have to be. lol.

Still, he was more cultured and good natured than were many of his underworld brethren. (remember too that he married the daughter of Tommy Lucchese, so his wife Frances inherited her fathers vast wealth as a boss as well.)
