Good list, Hollander. Both "The Thing" and "The Shining" caught a lot of flack from critics who thought they were way over the top. I own both, and view them at least 2-3 times/year. Terrific entertainment.

Thanks Turnbull the 80s were the decade of VHS we went renting videos every week.
One of the greatest movies ever made. Certainly the greatest road movie. This was also the movie that made me finally realize that Rutger Hauer was a baaaad motherFUCKAH!!!!
But you had to play it cool, had to do it your way Had to be a fool, had to throw it all away
It's a good list but so many underrated Hauer movies.
A Breed Apart (1984), Ladyhawke (1985), Wedlock (1991), Arctic Blue (1993), Surviving the Game (1994), Crossworlds (1996), Omega Doom (1996), Deathline (1997), Blast (1997), Bone Daddy (1998), New World Disorder (1999).
He will always be my favorite Dutch actor. I could literally watch The Hitcher on repeat because of him. He was in so many fun movies that many probably missed, including some TV movies! I thought he did well as the psycho in Blind Side with Rebecca DeMornay and the late great Ron Silver. Another TV movie I really enjoyed was Voyage, a forgotten gem he did with Eric Roberts, who played the psycho that time around lol

He was def the best coming out of Holland together with Paul Verhoeven.
The time was right in Hollywood for these guys even films that went straight to VHS were fun. Amazing time growing up in the 80s/90s.

It truly was my friend. We should've stopped time in 1992 and just done it like the Amish lol. We had it made. Technology is great and all, but the world has kinda gone nutty because of it
Btw I was just watching Hard to Kill the other day. Haha I miss those old school voice-over trailers
