Interesting ! Was the IACRL only big in NY area or also in Chicago and other cities?
Possibly some political and ordinary Italian citizens, but I never heard or read that any Outfit guy was a member or supported the league, meaning I believe they didnt care. When Profaci died and also after the "cold war" that occurred in NY at the time, the Chicago-Colombo connection became blurry....at least thats my opinion.

@TD too me the relations between Accardo and Giancana is most fascinating, why did they change the admin in 1957? Why did Joe step aside for Sam? Also that year the Apalachin Conference on November 14, 1957. Mooney and Joe Batters had both good business and friendly relationship and from the late 1930s until the late 60s there was never a problem between them. Joe B stepped down as boss because Paul Ricca wanted to, because under Accardos reign they lost few of their most lucrative rackets, and also Accardo and other bosses were doing money behind Riccas back, meaning they were infiltrating lucrative unions and didnt include Riccas reps like Teets Battaglia. This created a conflict because at first Accardo refused to relquish his throne, but after the murders of few Outfit guys, in the end Joe B was "forced" to step down for Giancana who in turn allegedly remained neutral during the war, and on top of that he was Ricca's, Ferraro's and Humphreys' choice, and so Accardo gladly agreed too. So, Accardo stepped down because of Ricca. Sources say that both Mooney and Joe B were allegedly present in Apalachin but managed to avoid the cops. Accardo was probably there to introduce his new successor, even though some of the prime bosses already knew Giancana from the previous Havana meeting when he was Accardos underboss.
