Taghi's eldest son extradited from Dubai to the Netherlands

Ridouan Taghi's eldest son, Faissal, has been extradited to the Netherlands a year after his arrest in Dubai. This was reported by the Public Prosecution Service.

Faissal, 23, was arrested in the United Arab Emirates last July and has been in custody since then. He is considered by the authorities to be a key figure in his father's organization.

The young Taghi is suspected of participating in a criminal organization that is guilty of large-scale drug trafficking, money laundering and preparing violent crimes.

Took over his father's tasks
Faissal Taghi's name has been mentioned several times in court by the Public Prosecution Service in recent years. The Public Prosecution Service believes that he observed a number of his father's affairs and bases this on intercepted messages.

It was the reason for the police to investigate Ridouan Taghi's communication from the EBI. During that investigation it turned out that his orders ended up with the now arrested son, among others.

Taghi is said to have informed him in which companies and new construction projects money should be invested. According to earlier reports, 2.5 million euros in drug money was smuggled to this son.

Liquidations
Ridouan Taghi himself was arrested in Dubai in December 2019 and immediately deported to the Netherlands. In February he was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Together with Faissal T., a 46-year-old man who had been wanted for international drug trafficking since 2022 was also extradited on Friday. He was arrested in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, in November last year. According to De Telegraaf, it concerns Romeo van K.

Five members of the Royal Military Police's Brigade Special Security Orders (BSB) secured Faissal Taghi on a plane during the extradition process from Dubai to the Netherlands. The extradition of the two suspects shows "that criminals cannot consider themselves untouchable outside our borders," Minister David van Weel (Justice) said. He thanked the police and the Public Prosecution Service for their "fantastic work," as well as organizations in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), according to his spokesperson. Van Weel also stated that the extradition treaty with the UAE was "not a paper tiger, but functions and has an impact."

The case of two Dutchmen who were sentenced to death in Morocco for a mistaken murder, must be re-examined by the court. The two had targeted a rival of Ridouan Taghi, but murdered the son of a high judge instead.

Bob Kaarls, the lawyer of the two, confirms after reporting by De Telegraaf that the court must look at the case again. According to the Supreme Court of Morocco, the court did not look enough at the possible role and attitude of the two when sentencing, says Kaarls.

The duo were allegedly ordered to shoot dead a rival of Taghi in Marrakech in November 2017, but the son of a senior judge was killed in the attack at the café.
Kaarls finds it remarkable that the two were given the death penalty . "They are the only ones who cooperated," he says. The two have confessed to having committed the murder and are said to have also mentioned other names.

Cousin and brothers Taghi
According to De Telegraaf, a cousin of Ridouan Taghi was sentenced to six years in prison for his role in the murder. Two brothers of Taghi were given long sentences, but not the death penalty or life imprisonment.

If the sentence is commuted to life imprisonment, they may be able to serve it in the Netherlands. That is not possible if they are sentenced to death. According to De Telegraaf, they have been in isolated death cells of 2 by 2 meters for seven years now and they sleep on the floor.

Although the death penalty is still imposed in Morocco, it has not been carried out there since 1993.

Three judges suspended after release of Bolle Jos accomplices: 'We received 7 tons'

The controversial decision to release a group of alleged accomplices of Jos Leijdekkers threatens to turn into a major scandal in Turkey. Evidence has surfaced that the judges involved have been bribed. All three have been suspended. Among others, the brother-in-law and brother of Bolle Jos, the most wanted criminal in the Netherlands, were released. They have been missing since then.

The linchpin in the bribery case is said to be Abdullah Alp Ü., the Rotterdam Turk is married to the sister of the partner of 'Bolle' Jos Leijdekkers. He was released on July 5 together with fourteen other suspects after a hearing at the High Criminal Court in Istanbul that lasted until late at night. Among them also Harry Leijdekkers, Jos' older brother. The judges stipulated as a condition that the suspects were not allowed to leave the country.

The researchers involved have advised removing the judges who were responsible for the controversial decision from their positions. All three have been suspended as a result. The email was addressed to the chief public prosecutor, it is unclear who sent it. But it allegedly stated that the judges had been bribed by Bolle Jos' brother-in-law. The well-known gangster from The Hague, Piet S. (68), will no longer be detained under special strict security measures. The Court of Appeal in The Hague has ruled on appeal that Piet S. may no longer be on the so-called GVM list. Earlier, the judge in summary proceedings, which S. initiated, ruled that there are risks that justify placement on the GVM list. But S. must now go to a normal regime.

Piet S. was arrested in 2020 and sentenced to 17 years in prison by the court in 2023 for leading a criminal organization that produced and traded drugs, laundered money and used violence. His appeal is still ongoing.

In 2021, he was placed on the list of prisoners with a high flight and/or social risk by the selection officer of the Ministry of Justice and after consultation with a national committee. Not in the highest category ('extreme') but in the category 'high'. In his case, this means, among other things, that he can only have supervised visits, that visits are listened to, that he has very little time to make phone calls and that all his mail is inspected. He can also only be locked up in a small number of very high-security penitentiaries.

Anonymous information
Based on anonymous information, the selection committee concluded on behalf of the minister that there was a high risk that Piet S. would be freed during a transport. Later, it was added that there was a risk that he would become involved in a liquidation (of himself or someone else) and threats.

Since 2021, the position on the GVM list has been extended every six months.

S.'s lawyer Esther Blok had argued in summary proceedings and at the court of appeal that there was no complaint about S.'s detention, and that the reports about his behavior were positive. According to her and S., the information received was unreliable and also not very concrete.

A lot of money
The State stated that S. has a lot of money and contacts in South America, where he could flee to.

The court finds that this in itself is not an argument for placement on the GVM list. In that case, all alleged leaders of criminal organizations could end up on the GVM list due to flight risk, the court finds.

Explanation
According to the court of appeal, the judiciary may use "soft" (anonymous) information. But according to the court, the legislation also prescribes that the State must provide as much explanation as possible. And that is completely lacking, according to the court. The court wants to be able to review the decision of the selection officer and that is impossible.

Furthermore, after 2021, no new information has come in that confirms the original information, nor have any other signals.

The court in Amsterdam on Monday sentenced four Amsterdam residents to almost nine years in prison for involvement in large-scale cocaine trafficking. The four are accused in the Paxidia investigation of participating in a criminal drug organization and involvement in three large cocaine transports in 2020.

Het Parool reports that the four men have been convicted of directing the removal of large quantities of cocaine from the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp for the fugitive drug baron 'Bolle Jos' Leijdekkers.

Three parties
The evidence in the case is based on intercepted Sky-ECC messages. It concerns the import of 2,263 kilos of cocaine into the port of Rotterdam in April 2020, the import of 860 kilos of cocaine into Rotterdam in April 2020 and the import of 335 kilos of cocaine into Antwerp, Rotterdam or Vlissingen, in May 2020. Several suspects are also convicted of possession of a submachine gun and a gun with associated ammunition, laundering exclusive brand clothing, brand shoes and luxury goods, such as expensive sunglasses and bracelets.

French cell
Shaquille C. (29) is sentenced to six years and nine months in prison, while the public prosecutor had demanded nine years against him. C. is currently in custody in France for a similar case. C. was arrested in Colombia in early 2023 on suspicion of importing more than 3,300 kilos of cocaine. He was arrested in Amsterdam-Zuidoost in February 2021 by an arrest team for, among other things, theft with violence and threats. C. was then arrested together with Danzel S., alias rapper Bigidagoe, who was shot dead near Amsterdam-Sloterdijk in February this year .

Lower penalties
30-year-old Jeymon A. is sentenced to eight years and nine months in prison. The Public Prosecution Service demanded eleven years against him. Sven O. (36) must also serve eight years and nine months. At the end of June, the Public Prosecution Service demanded ten years against him. The sentences of the court are lower because not all suspicions have been proven and the reasonable term has been exceeded.

Belgium
The 32-year-old Nahésson C. is sentenced to two years and nine months in prison, instead of three years, as demanded by the public prosecutor. The Amsterdam court recently decided that C. may be extradited to Belgium because he may have been involved in the shooting of eleven-year-old Firdaous. The girl was killed last year in Antwerp, when the room where she was eating was shot with a Kalashnikov rifle. C., who was arrested in March 2024 , strongly denies any involvement.

Ridouan Taghi was transferred to another, less secure section within the high-security prison in Vught at the end of July. He is now imprisoned in the same section that also houses his accomplice and right-hand man Saïd R. and notorious criminal kingpin Willem Holleeder, NOS reports.

In February, Taghi, Saïd R., and Mario R. were sentenced to life in prison in the Marengo trial involving six assassinations, four attempted killings, and plans to murder several others. The other 14 suspects in the case got sentences ranging from 21 months to 27 years in prison.

Taghi’s detention lawyer confirmed the transfer to NOS. He said he was surprised by it because the Public Prosecution Service (OM) typically advises keeping co-suspects separate and not placing them in the same complex while the trial is ongoing. Both Taghi and Saïd R. have appealed the life sentences against them.

The Vught prison had built an extra wing, the E1, especially for Taghi to serve his sentence completely isolated from the other prisoners. According to the broadcaster, his transfer may have to do with the arrival of his son, 23-year-old Faissal Taghi. He was extradited to the Netherlands at the end of July after being arrested in Dubai. The OM suspects Faissal of continuing his father’s criminal network.

'Fake agents ripped cocaine from Taghi's network'

Fake police officers are said to have stolen millions of dollars worth of cocaine from dealers in the group around Ridouan Taghi, according to the Gazet van Antwerpen . The newspaper reports that an investigation by the Antwerp public prosecutor's office is underway into a gang of fake police officers who are stealing large drug shipments from other criminal organizations.

1400 kilo
Two weeks ago, a shipment of 1,400 kilos from the Taghi group was reportedly stolen during a robbery in Kemzeke.

The cocaine belonged to 'a group of Moroccans from Utrecht' and 'Serbs'. The shipment was in a container that would have arrived at quay 913 in the port of Antwerp at the end of August. After the container was collected, the Eastern European driver headed for the Waasland where the organisation would unload the cocaine in a warehouse.

Flashing lights
In Kemzeke, near Stekene, the truck was cornered on August 29 by a fast car with blue flashing lights, according to the Gazet van Antwerpen. A group of men, who looked like police officers, overpowered the driver and took the sports bags with cocaine from the container.

One of the investors in the transport is said to be the family of Ridouan Taghi.

Crazy Hakim
In Antwerp, the police have conducted five house searches, including one in the Zonstraat in Borgerhout. That would be an address of Abdelhakim EM (46), alias "Zotte Hakim".

Weapons and police uniforms were found on him. EM was arrested together with a co-suspect and detained by the investigating judge.

Hakim EM survived a shooting on the Turnhoutsebaan in Antwerp in 2013. A criminal from Antwerp was convicted for this in 2017 .

Benaouf A. will not be going to a lighter prison regime. At the end of August, he demanded in summary proceedings that his status on the so-called GVM list be adjusted. The interim relief judge decided on Friday that A. is inadmissible in his request.

This spring, the prison authorities got the impression that A. was possibly working on another escape. The reason was the delivery of a note on May 30, 2024 at the PI Leeuwarden, by his wife. The note contained congratulations on his marriage. The Justice Department states that it contained "veiled language" and that it came from a criminal connection of A..

He was therefore transferred again to the EBI in Vught.

Explosive attacks, abduction in Netherlands linked to cocaine robbery in Antwerp

Public Prosecution Service wants to confiscate 100 million from Hague drug baron

The Public Prosecution Service wants almost 100 million euros from convicted drug baron Piet S. from The Hague. He is said to have earned that with his years of trading in all kinds of drugs.

Piet S., now 68, was the head of a large criminal organization that smuggled drugs all over the world. The Public Prosecution Service saw this as proof that he must have earned millions with his drug trade, although it has not been possible to actually find all the money. The Public Prosecution Service believes that he has hidden a large part of his assets somewhere.

Drug criminal Marco Ebben has been in the news regularly lately. Ebben still has an outstanding sentence in the Netherlands - the 32-year-old is said to have been a leader in the Schiedam cocaine mafia - and an investigation into him is still ongoing. But in 2019 Ebben went on the run. Europol even put him on the most wanted list.

Despite Ebben turning up in Turkey, Russia and Mexico in recent years, the law enforcement agencies have been unable to catch him. But sources say his latest adventure in South America cost him his life.

Mexican drug war
According to the Telegraaf, the Schiedammer is said to have joined the Mexican Sinaloa cartel. That cartel is fighting an internal war. On one side is 'El Mayo', one of the founders of the Sinaloa cartel. 'El Mayo' was recently arrested after the son of 'El Chapo', one of the other founders, lured him into a trap, foreign media write. From that moment on, there is trouble between the sons of the two drug lords.

Ebben is said to have led an armed militia of 50 men who fought on the side of 'El Mayo'. However, a firefight with the men of 'El Chapo' is said to have been fatal for him, as is now assumed by friends and family of Ebben. This is reported by the Telegraaf .

"I was shown images, including a photo of a heavily bleeding Ebben," said crime reporter John van den Heuvel, who was recently in Mexico himself. "Based on the material, his family now assumes that he is no longer alive. His body is still missing."

De Telegraaf has also been in contact with Marco's father. He states that the Schiedammer was found with a gunshot wound in his head by his Russian girlfriend in a Mexican morgue. The family believes that story.
