If my memory serves me correctly, Albert Anastasia was related through marriage to Giovanni (John) Melito, an old-time Utica based soldier serving under capo Salvatore Falcone who was the overseer of that section of Upstate NY.

I believe the connection was that Melito had married a blood niece of Anastasia.
