As early as 1996 the Camorra had a stronghold in Turkey starting in Instanbul and spreading from there. Said to be composed almost entirely of Italians and Greeks from Naples,Sicily,and Cephalonia.
In the 90s investigations also revealed relations between the crime families from Platì (Reggio Calabria) and the most powerful Turkish/Kurdish clans like Baybasin, Kocakaya and Dilek.
