For the failed attack on Cor “De Paling” P. (41), the court in Zwolle sentenced Jordi van der S. (24) to 23 years in prison. For the attack on January 4, 2022 in the Dominican Republic, Damian B. (21), 22-year-old Isah B. and Francis SB (23) were sentenced to 17, 15 and 18 years in prison respectively. The sentences are slightly higher than demanded .

Shooter
The men were convicted of attempted murder, illegal possession of weapons and forming a criminal organization. In addition to the prison sentences, they must also pay compensation of more than 75,000 euros to the victim.

The court assumes that Damian B. from Lelystad was the shooter and Isah B., who drove the motor scooter that was used during the attempted assassination.

Wild chase
The three youngest suspects traveled to the Dominican Republic with the aim of killing Cor P., the court said. Francis SB went first to see if the victim was there and to share information with the other two men. On January 4, 2022, B. and B. were driving around on the motor scooter and saw the victim. After a wild chase during the day, P. was shot while driving his car.

He was hit by multiple bullets, one of which went through his left lung. Quick medical intervention saved his life.

Heaviest punishment
The heaviest sentence is for 24-year-old Jordi van der S.. As a “broker”, he was the one who directed everything. The court notes that he and his 23-year-old half-brother were in close contact about the trip to the Dominican Republic. The SB also kept Van der S. informed. After the shooting, Van der S. was also informed by him.

Various assignments
According to the court, Van der S. accepted various orders from clients to carry out violent tasks. These orders were then further distributed by him to both members of the criminal organization and other "soldiers". In addition, he had a large quantity of weapons, including three anti-tank weapons, and ammunition in his possession.

He also threatened a prison employee while in pre-trial detention, while other employees witnessed it.

A 20-year-old suspect has been sentenced to 730 days of juvenile detention, of which 149 days are conditional with a probation period of 2 years, for participation in a criminal organization, prohibited possession of weapons and preparatory acts for, among other things, violent crimes.

At the time of the crime, the man was 18 years old. The court believes that he was pressured by Van der S.
