Guðlaug Edda secured the 51st spot in the triathlon. Not the greatest result in the eyes of some, but when you are competing against the world's elite, you can still be proud. Now I can sleep
But you had to play it cool, had to do it your way Had to be a fool, had to throw it all away

Sifan Hassan's Olympic mission has raised eyebrows and attracted admiring glances abroad. The Dutch athlete announced on Wednesday that she will run the 5,000 meters, the 10,000 meters and the marathon at the Games in Paris. Three years ago in Tokyo, Hassan became Olympic champion in the 5,000 meters and the 10,000 meters. She will defend those titles. Then she will try for eternal fame in the marathon. The 1,500 meters, in which she won bronze in Japan, will be skipped by the 31-year-old Dutch this time.
Former top sprinter Michael Johnson is deeply impressed by Hassan's program. "For anyone else, this would be insane," the American track and field legend writes on X . "I don't think there has ever been an athlete who loves racing more than Sifan Hassan."
The British newspaper The Independent speaks of an impossible dream. "Running 37.5 laps on the track and then a marathon... The Olympic Games sometimes make you wonder about the unbelievable. Sifan Hassan is not exactly taking it lightly," the newspaper reports.
Emil Zápotek is the only athlete who has managed to win gold in the 5,000, 10,000, and marathon at a single Olympic Games. The Czech athlete dominated all three events, including his debut over 26.2, at the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki. In fact, Runner’s World named him the greatest runner of all time in 2013.
Hassan said she was inspired by Zápotek when she made her decision.
“I’m curious what’s going to happen,” Hassan said. “My big focus is just how I’m going to complete [the events], how I’m going to recover, especially for the marathon.”
Here is the timeline of Hassan’s schedule in Paris.
August 2: Round 1 of the 5,000 August 5: Final of the 5,000 August 9: Final of the 10,000 August 11: Marathon
Oh yeah, congrats to Liam Corrigan, Michael Grady, Justin Best and Nick Mead. In rowing’s 2,000-meter men’s four final, they held off a charging New Zealand crew to win an Olympic gold medal. This marks the first time the United States has won the event in 64 years. The last time was at the Rome Olympics in 1960

Nice ! Rowing is a big university sport in GB as well as the Netherlands. With the exception of the first edition in 1896, rowing has always been included in the program of the Olympic Games . Up until the Games of 1972, the sport was reserved for men, in 1976 women competed in this sport for the first time at the Games.
Paris 2024 | Karolien Florijn takes gold in the skiff - More success on the water Karolien Florijn has won the fifth gold for the Netherlands, the fourth in rowing. The 26-year-old Dutch more than lived up to her role as favourite in the skiff. Silver went to Emma Twigg from New Zealand, Victorija Senkute (Lithuania) finished third.
And also a silver and bronze in rowing and bronze in windfoiling.
It shows how great Holland on and in the water is. The Netherlands has a unique relationship with water: it is both our best friend and our worst enemy.
It seems that the French aren't allowing some of the female sprinters to warm up due to a rule change regarding the main gate. If this is true, there will be major repercussions. Sha'Carri is running, but she was one of those women reportedly, and it clearly affected her semi-final performance. Shelly-Ann is out lol. Unbelievable
Hahaha I love the French, but I'm losing so much respect for them right now. Jesus Christ, these are the biggest stars!!! This would never happen in LA. LA 2028!!! We'll do it right

She was already the GOAT before she touched down in France. That woman is a God to us bro. A FUCKING GOD! You should see my girls and how much they look up to her
