Three judges suspended after release of Bolle Jos accomplices: 'We received 7 tons'

The controversial decision to release a group of alleged accomplices of Jos Leijdekkers threatens to turn into a major scandal in Turkey. Evidence has surfaced that the judges involved have been bribed. All three have been suspended. Among others, the brother-in-law and brother of Bolle Jos, the most wanted criminal in the Netherlands, were released. They have been missing since then.

The linchpin in the bribery case is said to be Abdullah Alp Ü., the Rotterdam Turk is married to the sister of the partner of 'Bolle' Jos Leijdekkers. He was released on July 5 together with fourteen other suspects after a hearing at the High Criminal Court in Istanbul that lasted until late at night. Among them also Harry Leijdekkers, Jos' older brother. The judges stipulated as a condition that the suspects were not allowed to leave the country.

According to well-informed sources, they had fled abroad. The so-called Council of Judges and Prosecutors then immediately started an investigation into the course of events.
The researchers involved have advised removing the judges who were responsible for the controversial decision from their positions. All three have been suspended as a result. Perhaps even more striking, write Turkish media, is an e-mail that is said to be among the documents of the investigation report.

The email was addressed to the chief public prosecutor, it is unclear who sent it. But it allegedly stated that the judges had been bribed by Bolle Jos' brother-in-law. This happened a day before the much-discussed hearing. Abdullah Alp Ü. allegedly agreed to an amount of 720,000 dollars in exchange for the release of him and his co-defendants. Rumors of bribery were already circulating immediately after the decision, and now there seem to be concrete indications for this for the first time.

Turkey has been in the grip of the largest 'drug baron operation ever' for months, as the case is also called in the Turkish media. Abdullah Alp Ü. is seen as the man who controlled the Turkish branch of Bolle Jos's organisation.

The fugitive from Brabant himself managed to escape each time.

During the searches around the actions, 40 million euros worth of real estate, among other things, were seized. In addition, the officers came across suitcases full of banknotes and valuable jewelry. Among other things, this included a gold-plated pistol and an extremely expensive watch from Jacob & Co. The watch, inlaid with six hundred diamonds, is said to be worth 1.6 million dollars. The suspicion against the men is therefore not hard to guess: money laundering.

Bolle Jos' brother-in-law gave an interview to the Turkish newspaper BirGün after he fled last month. He denied that he had anything to do with money laundering, but that he supplies gold to jewelers, among other things. He has no confidence in the judiciary and said that he is 'now forced to flee'. Ü. said about Jos Leijdekkers that he had already fled to Russia via Abkhazia in 2021 .

In the interview he is also asked about the rumors about bribing the judges. Abdullah Alp Ü. denies having anything to do with bribes: "These accusations of bribery are first and foremost slander against respected judges and justices; it is a sin and a disgrace. (...) This case is a fabricated dossier. I am patiently waiting for the day when the truth will be revealed."
