Puzzles I read your piece on Tommy Gambino, didn't want to share it. There's definitely something there Mafia-wise, even if it's not a "structured Los Angeles mob" or the old Dragna Family as we knew it. I see people on Reddit saying that they don't stand a chance because of all the countless numbers of street gangs, but the mob operates in a completely different realm or at least tries to. On a street level if they tried to flex their muscle then yes, they wouldn't stand a chance they're too outnumbered. But all criminal gangs/groups are open to partnerships when it comes to making a buck. The real issue is like others have said there's just not a big enough Italian population out west.
Speaking hypothetically, apart the latino or black hoods a wiseguy can easly operate in the white neighborhoods or running white collar crimes.
L.A. never had significant italian presence but the family was active until the 1990s.
