the outfit it is alleged, removed or forced out the BOSS john difronzo when he had similar health problems around 2014, with some sources claiming this happened even earlier. so i cant see leaving andriacchi in any role at all being a viable option. further to that for a functioning, structured organization such as the outfit to be constantly switching roles of senior members in administration makes no sense. think of all the titles/roles andriacchi was glossed with over the years; capo, street boss, underboss, consigliere, boss. possible he did indeed hold one of these positions, but not all of them. i believe this comes from a gross misunderstanding of the outfits structure to begin with and a preference by some to compare the outfit to other american mafia families in structure and membership. to some it is inconceivable that a high ranking member could be both a underboss and still run a street crew while also acting as a senior advisor or 'consigliere'. this was very common in chicago, think jackie cerone, aiuppa, john monteleone, carlisi etc. possible for a time andriacchi did the same.
lets take 2006 period of chicago before murder of anthony zizzo. i bring it up because it appears to be the last time andriacchis name has shown up in really anything criminal and likely before onset of health issues. its possible andriacchi was at this time...underboss, a link to his cousin joe lombardo and a senior member tasked with resolving high level outfit disputes between crews. possible he also was leader of a small street crew (unlikely as there are very few names linked to andriacchi aside from other senior admin members). there is no evidence of this i know it is only a possible scenario and best to focus on the multiple roles and responsibilities senior admin members had.
my last point, there is also not a stitch of proof that andriacchi or any other member of the outfit was consigliere. i do not think this role has ever existed in the outfit in the same sense as say the 5 families. i have stated this before i know but there is nothing i know of where this role and who filled it was caught on a wire, cofirmed by a cooperating member or associate or shown up in a single indictment. when the fbi announced op. family secrets in 2005 and the indictment of the then alleged 'consigliere' joe lombardo, nowhere in that indictment or subsequent trial states anywhere that lombardo was it. the media however proclaimed as much despite the total lack of proof.
but again why couldnt it be possible and if we use tony accardo as an example that the TOP BOSS could also serve as a senior advisor when needed to say aiuppa and cerone which i believe was the case. going down the line aiuppa would be tasked with not only running the outfit at the street level but to also act as advisor to his faction in order to resolve diputes etc. within it and to keep smaller matters out of accardos hair. cerone by extension for his faction would have done the same.
as i have stated on other threads some of these crime groups take time to finally reveal important information. the outfit is one of these groups.
