After Sciascia murder in 1999 the Rizzutos decided to cut the ties with the Bonanno because they wasnt more a simple decina but a mob family. For this reason Sal Montagna tried to keep control of the Rizzuto when teturned to Canada.
For sure single members or associates have connections with NY but the Bonannos dont give orders to Rizzutos.
And the defection of Bonanno leaders (Coppa, Massino, etc..) who began flipping in 2002.
