I just saw a post on Reddit about Lucchese underboss Gaspipe and Lucchese boss Vic Amuso getting beat up in prison. However, they were beat up by fellow mobsters, so I'm not sure the poster hit his mark as far as what he was trying to convey. Mobsters getting beat up by other mobsters aren't good examples of wiseguys having it tough in prison when it comes to inmates in general. Any other examples?

No one beat up Amuso in prison, whoever said that was lying. There are way too many people doing youtube and other videos, or writing books and they need stories So they make things up. Yet, to go by a post on Reddit!! I am sure there have been fights in prison where wise guys may have gotten the worst of it, but for the most part I think they do better than other inmates.

Amuso was beat up by Scarpa Jr. Casso got beat up by Sal miciotta, a colombo. These were fights, not random attacks.

Amuso said to Scarpa jr that his father was a rat and Greg jr beat him and was placed in solitary for avoid retaillation and was here that Scarpa jr know the two terrorists and trying to reduce his sentence flipping on them.
There was a case where a white old man was stripped naked by the albanians and the italians attacked them as retailattion (i dont know for sure if the old guy was italian).

I believe in the case of people like Al Capone and John Gotti, inmates will attack them to achieve notoriety or to make a name for themselves. There's a YouTube video where someone (a black guy, I think) who spent time at the same prison as Gotti said that when Gotti arrived, many inmates were starstruck. "What can I do for you Mr. Gotti?" saying things like that. I imagine that kind of respect and deference can incite feelings of jealousy in inmates who could care less about who he is.
