'Dutchman arrested in Ibiza for over a million ecstasy pills'

A Dutchman has been arrested in Ibiza after intercepting 650 kilos of drugs, including over a million ecstasy pills. He was put in a Spanish cell on Saturday without bail, along with a German and four Italians. Two Spanish women were also arrested, El PeriĆ³dico reports .

The police operation into the group of suspects began a few months ago in Torremolinos, after which the main investigations were carried out in the Balearic Islands, the archipelago of which Ibiza is a part. The Guardia Civil conducted an intensive investigation into the members of the criminal organization, who were involved in trafficking various types of drugs in large quantities on several Spanish islands.

650 kilo
During the arrest of the eight suspects of various nationalities, over 650 kilos of drugs were seized. This concerns over a million ecstasy pills of over 350 kilos. In addition, approximately 65 kilos of MDMA, approximately 200 kilos of ketamine, 20 kilos of pink cocaine and 20 kilos of cocaine were seized.

Searches
The search operations in Ibiza began on Thursday and lasted three days, but were carried out in the utmost secrecy, according to the authorities. Several houses were searched in different parts of Ibiza. There was also a raid on a marina, and vehicles were inspected.

Leaders
Among those arrested on the island are said to be the leaders of the organization. In total, eight suspects have been arrested: four Italians, a Dutchman, a German and two Spanish women, who are said to have kept some of the drugs in their homes.

The detainees were brought before a judge in Ibiza on Saturday and detained. The two Spanish women were allowed to await their trial in freedom after paying a bail of 3,000 euros.
