Songwriter Will Jennings has died at the age of 80, showbiz site 'Variety' reports. He had been ill for some time. Will has a large number of hits to his name. Of these, 'Tears in Heaven', which he co-wrote with 79-year-old Eric Clapton, is the best known.
Over the years, famous artists such as Roy Orbison, Mariah Carey, BB King, Rodney Crowell and Diana Ross have recorded songs by Jennings. 'Tears in Heaven' he wrote together with Eric about the death of the guitarist's son. The song was included in the soundtrack of the film Rush in the early nineties .
