Armed violence in Quebec: a former trafficker shot in his vehicle
Two suspects are being sought

A former drug trafficker who had also scammed clients through his excavation business was shot Saturday morning in Quebec City, an incident believed to be linked to conflicts between criminal groups.
The Quebec City Police Department (SPVQ) intervened around 10:30 a.m. for this event which occurred on rue du Petit Vallon.
According to the police, a vehicle was targeted by gunfire from another vehicle, which fled.
A man in his forties who was inside was hit. According to our information, he is former drug trafficker Patrick Laurendeau.
"He was on his knees and seemed to have injuries to his shoulder and forearm. One thing is certain, he didn't seem like a gentle person," said a local resident who was able to see the victim just before he was taken to the hospital.
A little later, a vehicle was set on fire on Chemin de la Sagamité. This could be linked to the attack on Patrick Laurendeau, according to our sources.
Criminal past
Now 47 years old, Laurendeau had already been convicted of drug trafficking following a major police operation in 2005 aimed at dismantling a network of cocaine and ecstasy traffickers linked to the Hell's Angels.

In recent years, Laurendeau has also had new problems with the law.

In 2023, the Superior Court ruled that he had participated with the company Excava Plus in a scheme to "scam and overcharge" consumers who wanted to have a swimming pool installed. Our Investigation Bureau had produced several reports on this case.

Saturday's events "would also be linked to armed violence by criminal groups," said Sandra Dion, spokesperson for the SPVQ.
Violence in the Quebec City region flared up again this week, as the home and business of controversial businessman Jean-Noël "Sarto" Lacroix were targeted by gunfire and arson on Friday.

Investigators from the MALSAIN project, which deals with cases of armed violence and drug trafficking linked to organised crime, were tasked with this investigation.
