Let us recall that the victim succumbed to his injuries after an altercation on Aubin Street on September 7. The 46-year-old man was already part of a major drug trafficking network affiliated with the Hells Angels that was dismantled in 2019.
The five suspects, aged 19 to 26 and from the greater Montreal area, were arrested in the hours following the event and appeared in court for carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

They are William Keita, Zachary Dryden, Brian Lewis-Philipp, Patrick Dion-Francis and Jarryd-Xavier Taylor. The latter was known for having played football with the Concordia University Stingers from 2016 to 2018, then with the Université de Montréal Carabins in 2021.

The five accused were due back at the Rimouski courthouse on Thursday to face new charges. Each of them is now charged with second-degree murder.

They will return to court on October 4 for the continuation of the proceedings.

Although the circumstances of the homicide remain unclear at the time of writing, the drug war that has been raging in the province for several months is believed to be a factor, according to our information.
