Hezbollah has confirmed the death of air unit commander Mohammad Surur, who Israel Defense Forces said earlier had been killed in an airstrike on Beirut earlier on Thursday.

The Israeli military described Surur as in charge of Hezbollah’s drone operations. Hezbollah did not provide details on his role.

Hezbollah said in a statement it had struck the town of Kiryat Shmona in north Israel and an Israeli military northern command base, as well as using air defense weapons to force two Israeli warplanes back.
