I find it interesting that Chicago always organized its crews on a geographical basis and that it still stands today.

That geographical thing is not as relevant with the other families. I don't know what works the best but i'd say it's also a smart move to have a limited number of crews. I feel the logic of "less crews but stronger crews" is much more efficient for a mob family than having many light crews.

I mean you see some families where everybody and their mother is an acting capo with one or two guys under him. That's not the point of a crew. A crew should be a smaller version of a Family with a lot of power, money making abilities and enforcing capabilities.
