…Only choose one.

Accardo. He shared power with Ricca for years, but my bottom line is that Ricca went to prison twice, Accordo never went to prison. Accardo "resigned" in '57 in favor of Giancana, but Batters still ran the show, stepped back in when Momo was exiled, and was the eminence gris until he died in '92.

Thats a good breakdown and logical evaluation of these two men...and I tend to agree with you on this.

Accardo had a much longer career than DeLucia, and to my knowledge, never served any prison term. He rode that rare wave that saw him float along the top-tier of Chicago's underworld largely unscathed for over 60+ years, since the Twenties.

THATS a huge accomplish!

It's close. Both of these guys were respected coast to coast by every boss in the country. I would also lean Accardo purely from the standpoint of he ran one of the most powerful criminal operations in the world for almost 5 decades and never spent a day in jail. That said, I'm not sure if Giancana is comparable to either of these gentlemen, but he was certainly a revolutionary when it came to LCN.
