This October 22-24, 2024 BRICS summit marked the first gathering after the expansion of the group to include new members: Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates, alongside the 2009 original five members: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa
BRICS waiting list: Putin said more than 30 countries had expressed a desire to join the BRICS, though there was little immediate clarity on how the expansion would work.

The Russian president Putin closed a summit of BRICS bloc of developing economies on Thursday praising its role as a counterbalance of what he is called the West's 'perverse methods'
The three day summit in the city of Kazan was attended by leaders or representatives of 36 countries, highlighting the failure of the United States-led efforts to isolate Russia over it's actions in Ukraine
The conflict came up repeatedly at the meeting which saw the first visit by the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in more than two years and drew an angry reaction from Kyiv, called for “a just peace” in Ukraine, in line with the U.N Charter, International law and General Assembly resolutions
He also urged an immediate end to the fighting in Gaza, Lebanon and Sudan

Today 17 March 2023 Pre-Trial Chamber II of the International Criminal Court (“ICC” or “the Court”) issued warrants of arrest for two individuals in the context of the situation in Ukraine: Mr Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and Ms Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova.
Yet the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres travelled to Russia for the BRICS meeting with ICC war criminal Putin -- ICC trying individuals for genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and aggression
