Record 13-ton cocaine shipment intercepted in southern Spanish port

Spanish police have intercepted more than 13,000 kilos of cocaine in the southern Spanish port of Algeciras, which was hidden among a shipment of bananas in a container from Ecuador.
The 13 tons is the largest shipment of cocaine ever seized in Spain, surpassing the 9,436 kilos from Ecuador seized in Algeciras in August 2023.
That shipment of cocaine was marked with more than 30 different logos, which authorities said corresponded to the various European criminal organizations that had invested in the shipment.
