Fishing boat full of cocaine caught off British coast
The UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) has arrested three men on Sunday morning on a fishing boat for carrying around 400kg of cocaine. The fishing boat was intercepted off the coast of Kent, in the English Channel. According to the NCA, Albanians currently dominate the UK’s cocaine trade.

East London
The three men on board the boat were aged 64, 45 and 25. A fourth man suspected of involvement in the transport has been arrested in East London.

Most major cocaine seizures in the UK occur at container terminals. Occasionally, small vessels such as fishing boats or yachts are intercepted, usually on the Channel routes, or off the UK’s south coast.

Shqiptare
According to the NCA, an Albanian organised crime group – the Shqiptare mafia – dominates the cocaine trade in the UK.

According to the NCA, the group has supply contacts at the source in South America and a wide network in the country for distribution to retailers.

There are indications that Shqiptare works closely with the 'Ndrangheta, the southern Italian mafia that is also a major player in international wholesale trade to Europe.

A large network of Albanian cocaine dealers was dismantled in Antwerp at the beginning of this year .
