Shadows of Power: How the ‘Ndrangheta Became the World’s Most Ubiquitous Crime Syndicate Like the mythical hydra, the ‘Ndrangheta has survived and multiplied whenever it appeared that it was contained or defeated. As mythologists will tell you, the mythical hydra was a monster with multiple heads that, when someone would appear to slay or attack, would regenerate and grow more heads. This hydra-like quality of the ‘Ndrangheta has enabled it to envelop the world and spread to seven continents. It is currently the world’s most powerful, lucrative, and secretive organization. The ‘Ndrangheta’s obscure origins are traced back to Calabria in Southern Italy or possibly Greece or Spain before that, but its presence on a global level has spread the Calabrian secret society to all the continents in the world. Its symbolic homeland and base is San Luca in Calabria, Italy, and the interconnectedness of this criminal secret society has propelled it to being the foremost drug trafficking organization in the world. Italian organized crime has been a source of fascination because of Hollywood’s depiction of organized crime. Italian organized crime is certainly not as one-dimensional in reality and has many layers and divisions. In Italy, there are three “mafia” organizations with a hierarchical structure and vast international connections. The ‘Ndrangheta from Calabria, Camorra from Campania, and Cosa Nostra from Sicily are the three criminal organizations meeting the criteria of secret societies with deep histories, complicated structures, and governing and conflict resolution mechanisms. These three have maintained relations with each other for as long as they have all existed, and they have molded the criminal underworld in Italy. https://intpolicydigest.org/shadows...world-s-most-ubiquitous-crime-syndicate/

https://www.corrieredellacalabria.i...lo-diceva-fosse-stressante-fare-il-boss/the investigation 'Ndrangheta, the meetings at the Terme di Lamezia and Fiorillo's complaints: «He said it was stressful to be a boss» The “stress” of the alleged head of the Piscopisani and the meetings with the Giampà in the “free pool in total darkness” Published: 2024-10-27 – 19:01 Nazzareno Fiorillo “U Tartaru”, «the boss of the Piscopisani», as called by Renato Marziano himself. The new collaborator of justice of the 'ndrangheta of Vibo tells the investigators, in the reports drawn up in 2018 but which came to light with the Porto Salvo investigation, the “secrets” of the Piscopio clan. Knowledge acquired thanks to the trust that the members of the clan, first and foremost Nazzareno Fiorillo, had in him, so much so that they baptized him and promoted him to “ sgarrista ” only six months later, also by virtue of «the criminal past I had». The collaborator speaks to the prosecutors of the conflicts between the Mancusos and the Piscopisanis, of murders and fraud schemes in the city center. Using communications apps Statements that also derive from having acted, for a certain period, as Nazzareno Fiorillo's companion and driver and, therefore, although on the sidelines, "I was able to attend his meetings". So much so that the alleged boss of the Piscopisanis would have also vented to Marziano: " He always complained about how stressful it was to be a boss " he told the prosecutors. Perhaps too many meetings to have, issues to resolve and, above all, the attention to not being caught by the investigators. Thus the attention, already known to the investigators and now confirmed by numerous investigations, to new forms of technology and communication. Marziano himself would have advised Fiorillo to " use a mobile phone application called "Line", useful for communicating without the possibility of being intercepted, also because the IPs are located on American servers". Meetings at the Lamezia spa But the Piscopisani, to protect themselves from wiretaps, would have also made great use of " telephone cards from Romanian companies registered to other people " purchased in stock from a telephone shop in the center of Vibo Valentia. Even for payments, the collaborator of justice specifies, "cloned credit cards" were used, capable of depositing even more than 10 to 15 thousand euros at a time. Marziano also talks about the strong relationships between the Piscopisani and the Giampà of Lamezia, with some meetings that would have been held at the Lametine spa, more precisely at night "in the free pool in total darkness" . The link with the 'ndrina of Lamezia and with some of the Reggio area, including the Commisso, in addition to the alliance with the Tripodi of Porto Salvo, would have allowed the Piscopisani to establish themselves throughout Calabria to prepare for the clash with the Mancuso and the Patania. https://www.corrieredellacalabria.i...-sulla-ndrangheta-sottratti-ai-tedeschi/the investigation «I have all of Africo and all of Platì». The database of the ex-policeman and the data on the 'ndrangheta stolen from the Germans The confessions of the former inspector Gallo intercepted while talking to his associates. «I photographed, I photocopied, I took everything». «I have the entire map of the Calabrian families in Germany» Published: 2024-10-28 – 17:47 LAMEZIA TERME "Malerba is coming here on Friday, because I put a lawyer for him, I'll pay him...". "Then we'll sort it out with Salvatore somehow... no problem." This is how Carmine Gallo, the former super-cop who ended up under house arrest in the investigation by the Milan Anti-Mafia District, expressed himself to his partner Calamucci. He was referring to his former colleague at the Rho-Pero police station, for whom the investigating judge has ordered a 6-month suspension from public office. At the center of the investigation is an alleged group dedicated to the trade in private investigation services, implemented however through "illegal conduct of abusive access to computer systems used by the Ministry of the Interior and the police force." For the Milanese Anti-Mafia District, one of the pillars of the association and undisputed "boss" «is undoubtedly Carmine Gallo», former Inspector of the State Police, with an important role in the management of some of the most well-known collaborators of justice who have contributed to reconstructing the criminal dynamics of dangerous mafia groups operating in Lombardy. Gallo ended up under house arrest as did Nunzio Samuele Calamucci, Giulio Cornelli and Massimiliano Camponovo. «All of Africo and all of Platì» And it is Gallo himself who, in a wiretap on July 18, 2023, informs the partners Calamucci and Cornelli "about the extent of the data in their possession" and the illicit acquisition, at least in part. And Gallo's reference is also to Calabria. "I have almost fifteen, sixteen thousand personal files of individuals, but not mafia individuals, even non-mafia individuals, name, surname, where they were born, who they are connected to, who their family is, who their relatives are..." confesses Gallo who further explains: "All the cards of the Municipality of Piatì! All the registry cards of the Municipality of Africo...". In the wiretapped conversation, in fact, the former policeman refers to the period in which he went down to Calabria for some checks carried out, presumably linked to the investigations into the 'ndrangheta in the municipalities of Africo and Platì. "(...) because at the time when I was down in Calabria... because we went down to Calabria and carried out the Municipality's checks, we sent the employees away!" Gallo explains to the partners. "(…) I told the employees, go get a coffee, I'll see you in half an hour..." he continues. "I closed the doors and everything, everything that was there, I photographed, I photocopied, I took everything... the CDs, I copied everything that was there, I took it and took it away!". Data stolen obviously in a completely illegal way, part of a very rich archive built by the ex-policeman Gallo, to be exploited eventually through "Equalize srl". The company, in fact, would have been used to then try to "legalize" the illegally acquired information, attributing, at least apparently, a legal origin, "artfully camouflaging the actual origin of the information" the prosecutors note, "to be able to provide third parties with "usable" information in any place". «I have all the kidnappings» And Gallo, speaking of the municipalities of Platì and Africo, would have left nothing to chance. «(…) what I managed to take away, I took away…» he confesses to his associates, «All of Piatì yes, all of Africo yes… and then a lot of material. For example, I have another database that no one else has… all the kidnappings, the attempted kidnappings from the sixties to today, with all those arrested for that kidnapping, how long the kidnapping lasted, where he was kidnapped, where he was released, the Judicial Authority that dealt with it, the Police or Carabinieri, who were the investigators, who was arrested, the ransom in what way, how it was paid, whether it was paid or not… all / kidnappings, all…». Rooster Malerba The huge database and the idea of ??a newspaper The intention of the Campania policeman was to, one day, leave his “assets” – enormous – to the organization, although Calamucci had confirmed that «their association was also in possession of a very large amount of SDI data» of illegal exfiltration, from national strategic databases, of confidential and protected information, «for a total of more than 350,000», the prosecutors note. «How many more years can I work?» Gallo asks. «After that, what do I do with this material? Do I eat it? Do I keep it? What do I need it for? Do you understand?! And therefore, it belongs to everyone, to society, to everyone!». A huge amount of data, therefore, whose importance was well known to those under investigation. To the point that Gallo himself, still speaking with his associates, had also hypothesized creating a journalistic structure to «make travel together with Equalize», aware however of the risks and, above all, of the limits. «(…) obviously that is also incompatible, we are journalists and we are an investigative agency… and that is not good either!». ndrangheta germany duisburg massacre The Duisburg massacre Australia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Families in Germany Also because, as the former policeman himself also says in the intercepted conversation, he has data that also concern analyses of all operations against organised crime in Italy, but not only that. «I also have data from operations located in other continents, in Australia, in Vietnam, in everything, in Cambodia, of all the family units that have left the 'ndrangheta and are in these places ...». And Gallo also refers to his old role. In the very long curriculum of the Campania policeman there is also the role of Italian contact for the German police who on 15 August 2007 discovered the terrorism of the 'ndrangheta clans with the bloody and terrible massacre in Duisburg. And, as reported by the prosecutors, the former policeman still confesses to his associates: «The other time he had to give a conference on Italian crime that had moved to Australia and he couldn't find anything ... I gave him twenty pages of notes of mine, all these things I had, old investigations put together, stuff he says in Australia, in America, in Germany ...». And he says: «I have the entire map of the Calabrian families in Germany that I took from the Germans when I went there for Duisburg, they got distracted for a moment…». «(…) I took everything with me and therefore, all the maps, nobody has this one!». The sentence of 10 years and 10 months for Gaetano Bandiera , 76, one of the historic bosses of the 'Ndrangheta in Lombardy and already convicted in the maxi-trial 'Infinito', was confirmed on appeal in Milan. The proceedings, with an abbreviated procedure and against over 40 defendants, focused on an attempt to reconstitute a 'locale' in Rho, in the Milan area. For his son, Cristian Bandiera , defended by the lawyer Amadeo Rizza , the sentence was reduced in the second degree from 16 years and 8 months to 14 years with the recognition of mitigating circumstances

Colombia, three drug lords linked to 'ndrangheta arrested They exported tons of cocaine by ship to Europe The Colombian Attorney's Office has announced the arrest of three Colombians allegedly linked to the 'Ndrangheta, charged with sending cocaine to Europe, and more specifically to the port of Gioia Tauro, in Calabria. César Alexander Hernández Caballero, Haroll Miranda Castaño and José William Méndez Caycedo were arrested in operations conducted in Cartagena de Indias (north) and Villavicencio (south), accused of the crimes of "trafficking, manufacturing or transporting narcotics and criminal association". "The three are accused of having procured cocaine hydrochloride and of having guaranteed its arrival in European territory", explain the Attorney's Office. The Colombians shipped the cocaine purchased in the southwest of the country through the ports of the Caribbean (north), also with the help of a faction of the now defunct FARC, known as Segunda Marquetalia. According to investigators, the three transferred "tons of narcotics". https://ansabrasil.com.br/sito/noti...874c822-1fbc-4dc9-a3bf-b8401cd1f727.html

https://www.corrieredellacalabria.i...onto-del-pentito-ianno-ci-siamo-opposti/offshoot process «In '98-99 'ndrangheta families wanted to kill a magistrate». The story of the repentant Iannò: «We opposed» The collaborator of justice: «The old 'ndrangheta was like this, the State was untouchable». «The local 'ndrangheta members are scattered all over the world» Published: 10/31/2024 – 19:20 ROME « In 98-99 some families had put forward the proposal to touch (kill ed.) a magistrate, but we all opposed it. The 'ndranghetista always avoided going against the State, then things changed from what you read. But the 'ndrangheta said that you should never touch or go against the State, if anything you should conquer it, corrupt it. The old 'ndrangheta was like that ». This was said by the collaborator of justice Paolo Iannò during the “Propaggine” trial underway in Rome, which arose from the operation that shed light on the interests of the 'ndrangheta in the Capital and which sees exponents of the Alvaro gang in the dock. Iannò, affiliated with the Gallico club in Reggio Calabria, arrested in December 2000 and a collaborator of justice since 2002, answering questions from the public prosecutor Giovanni Musarò, spoke about the criminal dynamics surrounding the business of the Reggio Calabria 'ndrangheta, from customs to organization, up to the conflicts represented by the second mafia war . "I got my talents from Domenico Alvaro and Francesco Alvaro, I was taken in by them, I was one of the family, they came to visit me when I was a fugitive", explained Iannò referring to the Sinopoli clan. " The Alvaro family is one of the historic families of the 'ndrangheta, the most powerful, well-known and respected ". "Domenico Alvaro - he added - was the one who guaranteed the maxi peace for the Condello, Imerti, Serraino clan. On our side he guaranteed the maxi peace together with the Nirtas". The mafia war and the peace And referring to the role of the Alvaros in the context of the mafia peace, the collaborator of justice recounted the beginning of what was a long trail of blood that began with the killing of Antonino Imerti, cousin of Pasquale Condello and lasted until the very early 90s: «Pasquale Condello was like an uncle to me. He came from Archi and was part of Paolo De Stefano's group, after the car bombing of his cousin there was a rift. The mafia war began in '85 with the death of Imerti, later there was the response with the death of Paolo De Stefano , boss of Reggio Calabria and beyond, who had won the first mafia war against the Tripodi family. Pasquale Condello was his right-hand man». It was « Mico Alvaro who put a stone on the peace of the mafia war», «To participate in the interlocutory meeting in view of the maxi peace we were in the upper part of Sinopoli. We talked about making peace for our women and our children who were tired. The final meeting – Iannò continued – took place in the countryside of Sinopoli». “ Sons of 'ndrangheta” and “adoptive sons ” Answering a question from prosecutor Musarò, Iannò explained what he means when he talks about “children of the 'ndrangheta” and “adoptive children”: «Children of the 'ndrangheta are when someone is a 'ndranghetista by family, but it's always a choice, I have a brother who has remained outside of that world. Then there are the boys who approach even though they have no one who is a 'ndranghetista in their family. It was customary for the 'ndranghetisti to baptize their children as soon as they are born, they made them picciotti or giovani d'onore ». And speaking about the conferral of dowries, Iannò explained: «The family acts as a shield, when there is the name of a known family behind it it is a great guarantee, but then the “merits” of the subjects count». A world from which one cannot escape, as confirmed by other collaborators before him: "One can also take a step back, remain in good order, dormant, and choose to stop for health or family reasons, but one cannot take away one's qualities starting from an insult, an insult can only be removed with death ". The Plan to Kill a Magistrate With reference to the decisions taken by the clans, the prosecutor asked the collaborator of justice how those regarding the commission of murders were taken. And Iannò, referring to a period in which he was a fugitive, explained: « In 98-99 some families had put forward the proposal to touch (kill ed.) a magistrate, but we were all opposed ». As recalled by the prosecutor, the collaborator of justice had also spoken about it during a testimony in 2013, with reference to the Zavettieri, Morabito and Paviglianiti families. « The 'ndranghetista - Iannò explained - always avoided going against the State, then things changed from what you read. But the 'ndrangheta said that you should never touch or go against the State, but rather conquer it, corrupt it. The old 'ndrangheta was like that ». «Ndrangheta locations around the world, from Australia to America» The collaborator of justice also explained how the 'ndrangheta "locali" are formed, for which authorization from the "mamma", Calabria, is needed: «The final decision is up to all the locals, if there is no one against it, it is done. Permission was requested - the repentant revealed - to form a 'ndrangheta local in Ventimiglia, in Liguria . They had asked for permission and it was granted». « The 'ndrangheta local - he remarked - exists in Australia, in America, from what the old people told me, the 'ndranghetista locals are spread all over the world. Unlike the mafioso and the camorrista, the 'ndranghetista loves to form the local, to have his own territory. The ' ndranghetista loves to take over a territory, he doesn't just think about the business he can make, he loves to say: "I'm here, I'm in charge"». (m.ripolo@corrierecal.it)

A blow to the 'ndrangheta with 59 arrests and 86 suspects in Lamezia Terme: two carabinieri also arrested Strike against the Cracolici clan of the 'ndrangheta, which operates in the area from Lamezia Terme to Vibo Valentia: 86 suspects and 59 arrests, including 2 carabinieri A blow to the 'ndrangheta in the area from Lamezia Terme, in the province of Catanzaro, to Vibo Valentia. At dawn on Thursday 7 November, the Carabinieri – at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA), executed a precautionary custody order that led to 59 arrests . Two men from the force also ended up in handcuffs. In total, there are 86 suspects and the charges range from mafia association to drug trafficking. Blitz against the 'ndrangheta in the Lamezia Terme area The Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Catanzaro have arrested 59 people by order of the preliminary investigations judge (GIP), following the request of the Catanzaro DDA. The area affected by the blitz is that of Lamezia Terme, but also that between Maida, Cortale, Jacurso and the Vibonese area . Of these, 50 ended up in prison while 9 were placed under house arrest. Among those arrested there are also two carabinieri , as reported by Lametino . In total, there are 86 people under investigation and they are accused – to varying degrees – of various crimes including: 'ndrangheta-type association criminal association aimed at drug trafficking (also aggravated by mafia methods and purposes) extortion unfair competition corruption personal favoring false testimony fire prescription ideological falsehood possession of weapons and narcotics marketing of narcotic substances Cracolici gang hit As reported by Lametino , the chief prosecutor of Catanzaro , Vincenzo Capomolla, said that the gang hit is that of the Cracolicis. Drug control, from marijuana and cocaine During the investigation, several marijuana plantations were discovered. Drug control , as underlined by Capomolla, would have also extended to cocaine dealing with connections both in the Reggio Calabria and Crotone areas . Furthermore, the prosecutor added, the organization was able to "infiltrate criminal proceedings with false testimonies aimed at getting released from prison. We also found archaic profiles, one suspect had the name of a relative killed for the mafia tattooed on his arm". The criminal gang was also particularly active in the exploitation of the forestry sector. https://notizie.virgilio.it/colpo-a...in-manette-anche-due-carabinieri-1646309

INTERPOL-led coalition arrests 100 mafia suspects
7 November 2024 INTERPOL’s I-CAN project targets the ‘Ndrangheta, Italy’s most powerful mafia. GLASGOW, United Kingdom: An international police coalition coordinated by INTERPOL has led to the arrest of more than 100 key ‘Ndrangheta members since the project’s launch in 2020. The 100th and 101st arrests occurred during a coordinated operation last month supported by INTERPOL in Germany and Italy. German authorities raided three houses, seizing a large cache of information, including cloud data. The police also found significant amounts of cash, luxury watches and jewelry. The Italian authorities acted in parallel, arresting two suspects, seizing multiple properties and vehicles, and freezing bank accounts. A Calabrian businessman with alleged links to two ‘Ndrangheta clans was arrested in Bologna while a second suspect was arrested the same day in the city of Formia. The operation took place within the framework of an investigation led by Italy’s Guardia di Finanza in Bologna. INTERPOL Secretary General Jürgen Stock said: “The ‘Ndrangheta are a global scourge and demonstrate the unprecedented threat posed by transnational organized crime groups. Yet the success of the I-CAN project makes clear that even the most powerful mafias are not out of reach when law enforcement cooperates across borders.” Giampiero Ianni, Brigadier General of the Guardia di Finanza, said: “I-CAN’s 101 arrests show there is no escape for members of the ‘Ndrangheta. With the support of INTERPOL, we have been able to investigate this insidious organization, mapping its international development and working together with prosecutors to apprehend its fugitives.” The arrests occurred during a coordinated operation last month supported by INTERPOL in Germany and Italy. The ‘Ndrangheta is often considered one of the most extensive and powerful criminal organizations in the world. Its roots are in the Italian region of Calabria but it has now expanded to more than 40 countries worldwide and continues to grow at a steady rate. The insidious spread of mafia-type crime poses an urgent threat to international peace and security, due to its penetration of political and economic environments and the widespread corruption associated with it. Funded by the Italian Department of Public Security, INTERPOL’s I-CAN project raises global awareness and understanding about the ‘Ndrangheta and their modus operandi, sharing police information to dismantle their networks and operations and arrest wanted suspects. https://www.interpol.int/News-and-Events/News/2024/INTERPOL-led-coalition-arrests-100-mafia-suspects

https://www.corrieredellacalabria.i...miliano-in-abbreviato-pene-per-338-anni/the process 'Ndrangheta, “Aspromonte emiliano”: sentences in abbreviated form for 338 years – NAMES Giuseppe Romeo “Maluferru” of the San Luca 'ndrina sentenced to 20 years. The charges ranged from drugs to money laundering Published: 08/11/2024 – 15:14 BOLOGNA Bologna GUP Andrea Salvatore Romito has substantially accepted – while excluding, for the defendants who were charged with the aggravating circumstance of mafia – the requests of the prosecutor of the Bologna DDA Roberto Ceroni in the first-degree trial with abbreviated procedure resulting from the operation “Aspromonte emiliano” , which in May 2023 had allowed the dismantling of an organization dedicated to the trafficking of cocaine, hashish and marijuana. Ceroni had in fact requested sentences of over 350 years in prison for the 35 defendants , and today GUP Andrea Salvatore Romito has imposed sentences of 338 years and 10 months , among which stands out the 20-year sentence for Giuseppe Romeo “Maluferru”, of the 'ndrina of San Luca also known as “Staccu”, a former super fugitive arrested in Spain in 2021 and believed to be the head of the organization. The defendants were charged, to varying degrees, with the crimes of drug trafficking, money laundering, fictitious registration of assets, kidnapping for the purpose of extortion and weapons , and according to the prosecution, the undisputed leader of the criminal organization was none other than Romeo. This organization included Italians belonging to or close to the 'ndrangheta of Reggio Calabria and Crotone and active in Emilia-Romagna, who had direct contact with the Colombian drug cartels, and also Chinese criminals. Some of the defendants were also given fines totaling 66,000 euros, and all but two were given three years of probation once they had served their sentences. Furthermore, 10 defendants were acquitted of some of the charges they were charged with because they did not commit the crime. Finally, the sentence - the reasons for which will be filed within 90 days - orders the confiscation of the seized assets. https://www.corrieredellacalabria.i...rocco-comanda-ancora-e-il-capo-dei-capi/The reconstruction 'Ndrangheta, the Anello-Fruci and the apparent power vacuum. «Rocco still commands, he is the boss of bosses» After “Imponimento” the one to take over the square would have been Mimmo Cracolici, an old friend and member of the clan. But without “exaggerating” Published: 11/11/2024 – 6:40 LAMEZIA TERME For a clan that is almost completely wiped out, there is immediately another one ready to occupy the “empty spaces”. Stories of ‘ndrangheta that repeat themselves every time, the manifesto of an attitude, that of Calabrian organized crime, to control the territory and to challenge the police forces. Recurring episodes, therefore, among which are also included the events in the Lamezia territory and that on the border with the province of Vibonese e. In this portion of Calabria, in fact, the investigation of the Catanzaro Anti-Mafia District had dealt a hard blow to the Anello-Fruci clan thanks to the operation “Imponimento”: dozens of arrests and beheaded families, up to the sentences issued in the first degree in ordinary and already on appeal in abbreviated, including the “bosses” of the two factions: Rocco Anello, Tommaso Anello, Vincenzino and Pino Fruci. And then, given the power vacuum in the territory, it would have been the criminal group led by Mimmo Cracolici (class of '71), already hegemonic in the territory of Cortale and Maida and closely linked to the Cracolici of Filogaso and Maierato, to "take" the area between Lamezia Terme and Filadelfia, collecting in some way the "criminal legacy", with the recognition from the neighboring gangs of the Lamezia Terme, Catanzaro and, indeed, Vibo Valentia areas. Old Ties with the Anello-Fruci In the investigation later renamed “Artemis”, the investigators of the Catanzaro Anti-Mafia District have thus reconstructed the activities carried out by Mimmo Cracolici, starting from drug dealing to logging, up to a capillary control of the territory in full compliance with the 'ndrangheta logic of dividing up economic business, without neglecting the intimidating force, also counting on the subjugation and silence of the victims. The boss of Cortale – during the investigation – has repeatedly manifested the ties, even deep ones, with the leaders of the Anello-Fruci gang of Filadelfia, in particular with Vincenzino Fruci and Rocco Anello (class of '61), currently detained. But not only that: the investigators have also shed light on a cross-section of the "mafia management" of the territory of Cortale, Maida and Jacurso that Mimmo Cracolici exercises not only thanks to his blood ties with the homonymous family from Vibo Valentia, but above all to the teachings received from masters of the caliber of the Fruci brothers and the boss Rocco Anello himself. Cars on behalf of Enzo Fruci The wiretaps carried out by the pg on behalf of the Catanzaro Dda, have returned numerous confirmations regarding the very close relationship between Mimmo Cracolici and, in particular, Vincenzino Fruci, "going so far as to say, during one of the many conversations intercepted with the "partners" of Rosarno, that he actually grew up with them", the investigators note. Some time ago, for example, Cracolici allegedly gave Fruci two cars, a Mitsubishi Pajero and a Mini Cooper "so that he could try to sell them" the investigators note, but without success because, on July 21, 2020, he was arrested precisely as part of the Imponimento operation. A topic that returned to the fore in April 2022 during a conversation intercepted between Mimmo Cracolici and Domenico Berlingeri known as “Mimmo lo Zingaro” «who had brought to the site, with a tow truck, a Mini Cooper taken from Vincenzino Fruci’s wife», the investigators still note. In that same conversation, Berlingeri «in addition to being interested in purchasing a batch of marijuana», allegedly told Mimmo Cracolici that he wanted to get spare parts from that vehicle. Different story, however, for the Mitsubishi: Mimmo Cracolici, in fact, specified to his brother-in-law that he had taken it back from Vincenzino Fruci’s wife and had it repaired. And, even though he had left it to Fruci, the car was still registered in his name and, since he had not been paid for it in full, «he had preferred to take it back» also because «he had heard rumors about the latter’s possible collaboration with justice», the investigators still write. Drug deals and decades of knowledge "No, I grew up with them! With Pino and Vincenzo!" . This is how Mimmo Cracolici explained to Luigi Cutrì from Rosarnese his long-standing acquaintance with Fruci, also saying that he had "relationships with the two bosses of Acconia di Curinga, before their arrest in July 2020, for a consolidated drug trafficking", the investigators write. The relationships between Vincenzino Fruci and the people from Rosarnese were also dated, to the point of having taken two cars (a KIA and a Sorrento) "as a guarantee of payment for the goods, vehicles still in their possession", writes the prosecutor. "(...) three years ago when did we do all that? Damn the money... he brought us the money in bags, in envelopes you could say...". This is how Giuseppe Saffioti reported that he had known Vincenzi Fruci for at least ten years and that he and his group had sold him large quantities of narcotics. Rocco Anello still commands Another element that – according to the prosecution – would certify the consolidated relationship between Mimmo Cracolici and the Anello-Fruci is a particular anecdote that the boss tells Cortale, inside the “Catalano” bar of Francesco Catalano (class of '64) also among those arrested, with whom Mimmo would have entertained himself to discuss his judicial affairs and the trials in which he is currently accused. It is the evening of June 7, 2023 and Mimmo Cracolici confides to the bartender that he met, at midday, some individuals to whom he would deliver an 'embassy. (...) what can I say to him other than no to the guy in jail? He's still in charge, damn it... I got the embassy from Rocco... believe me, look, this is really the boss of bosses! There's no point in someone getting too high and doing...», Cracolici himself tells Catalano. The message to “not get carried away” was meant to be delivered to some individuals engaged in unspecified work, citing Rocco Anello himself who, despite his detention, still seems capable of “commanding” the territory. Ielapi's disrespect On this same occasion, Mimmo Cracolici tells Catalano another episode, with which he intended to convey the idea of ??the power and authority exercised by Rocco Anello. Apparently, in fact, the boss had «tasked him with organizing a meeting with Sandro Ielapi» the investigators report, to whom however there would have been «an unidentified individual indicated with the name of “Checco” and who had passed himself off as Ielapi» we read further, «without knowing that Rocco Anello knew Sandro perfectly». In fact, a lack of respect that had sent the boss into a rage: «(…) look, I had to kill him, I had killed the wrong person». Cracolici's story continues, still reporting to Catalano that he had personally witnessed the anger of Rocco Anello who, once confronted with Ielapi, would have reprimanded him in front of the wife of this “Giovanni the boss”. «Damn, how he ground him down in front of his wife, you know what he did to him! In front of his wife, in front of Giovanni “the Boss”… he tore him to pieces…». And again: «He told him “you mustn’t have anything with me! When I call you, you just fly!” (…) “otherwise I’ll get you out of my way, and you know how I’ll get you out” he told him, and he told him in front of me… and he told him “and don’t let it go to your head”». https://www.corrieredellacalabria.i...colonizzato-il-tessuto-economico-a-roma/the clans in the capital The 'Ndrangheta's "invasive and pervasive" method: how it "polluted" and "colonized" the economic fabric of Rome The fictitious titles and the capital invested "to alter the legal economy" and "adapt" to the social and economic reality of the capital Published: 11/13/2024 – 6:50 ROME A real "colonization of the economic fabric", through a penetrating action intended to "occupy market and production areas, polluting the relative social fabric". A way of infiltrating the economic fabric, devising "a new settlement model, but equally invasive and pervasive". In this way the 'ndrangheta was able to "adapt to the peculiarities of the social and economic reality of the capital" . This is what the Roman prosecutors underline in the brief filed in the appeal trial "Propaggine" , which arose from the operation that shed light on the interests of the 'ndrangheta in the capital and which sees exponents of the Alvaro gang in the dock. The investigation, which began in 2022, allowed us to reconstruct the criminal dynamics surrounding the gang active in Sinopoli, Cosoleto and San Procopio and the first "locale" active in Rome, Anzio and Nettuno, which operated in the capital after having obtained official investiture from the parent company in Calabria. Monopolistic management The Court of Cassation – as stated in the brief – affirmed the principle of law according to which the crime under art. 416 bis can be configured with reference to a new territorial articulation of the 'ndrangheta if, among other things, the premises «carry out a penetrating action intended to “occupy” market and production areas, polluting the related social fabric ». In reference to the ruling of November 2022, with which the order of the Review Court relating to the position of Vincenzo Alvaro was confirmed, the Court noted that the peculiarity of the 'ndrangheta premises in Rome lies in the fact that «the objective was not and is not that of the physical or moral oppression of those who came into contact with the various characters of the premises, but on the contrary, that of allowing the appropriation of economic sectors that effectively excluded a physiological free market to the full advantage of a “monopolistic” type of management, albeit sectoral . The settlement model of the historical association of reference – the judges noted – adapts, therefore, to the new social and economic reality of reference, thus being enriched with a further content, equally invasive and pervasive». Fictitious headings and capital invested to alter the legal economy The Roman prosecutors, repeating the words of the Court of Cassation that ruled in the context of the preliminary hearing, and the considerations of the preliminary hearing judge, highlighted how the Calabrian clans in the Capital were able to expand their influence "when the corporate purpose (or statutory purpose) - to use the preliminary hearing judge's words - of the organization was the infiltration of the economic fabric of the capital through fictitiously registered companies or firms in which illicit capital was invested". And the appropriation of economic sectors referred to is achieved through continuous fictitious ownership of commercial activities operating in various economic sectors, to the point of achieving a "colonization of the economic fabric": " The 'ndrangheta has moved in recent years by progressively grabbing entire entrepreneurial portions in supplies, in the restaurant sector, in the gambling sector: it has injected enormous capital that has profoundly altered the legal economy but which at the same time guarantees these mafia structures dominant positions through which to entrust support to their associates and the flow of money ready to be invested".

https://www.corrieredellacalabria.i...-scosso-la-ndrangheta-come-un-terremoto/the case From Mantella to Fortuna, the boom in informants in Vibo that shook the 'ndrangheta like an earthquake The killer Francesco Fortuna is only the latest in a long list of collaborators of justice. The “change of direction” between investigations and operations Published: 12/11/2024 – 10:45 VIBO VALENTIA The family bond and the archaic associative ties, pillars that have allowed the 'ndrangheta not to be "scratched" for decades by the numerous operations. Clans based on entire families with the criminal legacy that is passed down from father to sons raised on bread and 'ndrangheta. It is mainly thanks to these two factors that in its ten-year history the Calabrian organized crime has had few repentants . An aspect that has guaranteed its growth and its credibility especially abroad. "The 'ndrine are considered credible for their toughness and because over the years, compared to the number of 'ndranghetists, it has left behind very few collaborators of justice" explained the prosecutor Nicola Gratteri in an interview a few months ago. A context that makes the case of the 'ndrangheta in the province of Vibo Valentia even more emblematic, in the opposite sense: in the last 10 years a real "boom" of collaborators of justice , the latest being the Bonavota killer Francesco Fortuna. A prominent figure who joins the many others on whose statements the numerous investigations and hundreds of arrests have in fact been "shaped". The regrets of Moscato and Mantella The first strong “shock” of the earthquake that would soon shake the 'ndrangheta of Vibo Valentia was the repentance of Raffaele Moscato in 2015. At the top of the Piscopisani, his statements would lead to the disarticulation of the club rooted in the Vibo Valentia district, also shedding light on several murders and on the feud against the Mancuso-Patania. Moscato spoke of the intentions of the 'ndrina of Piscopio to “replace” the most powerful family of Limbadi. The same intentions that Andrea Mantella had set himself, with his group from Vibo Valentia , before deciding to take the plunge in 2016. Boss of the Lo Bianco clan, he had then “split” to create an autonomous group that, by virtue of alliances with other 'ndrine, such as the Bonavota, would have had to oppose the Mancuso. On his statements, those of Moscato and on the hearings of Bartolomeo Arena, another scion of the Vibo Valentia 'ndrangheta who repented in 2019, the maxi investigation Rinascita Scott will be set up, which will lead to the conviction of 207 people in the first degree. In these years, Giuseppe Comito , linked to the Mancuso and close to the Patania, who has spilled rivers of ink on the feud with the Piscopisani, will also repent. From the 'ndrangheta of the capital, Michele Camillò , a member of the family of the same name, and Gaetano Cannatà , belonging to the Lo Bianco – Barba clan, will follow . The first Mancuso to repent Even more emblematic and historic is the repentance of Emanuele Mancuso, former scion of the Limbadi clan of the same name, which occurred in the summer of 2018. The first to create a breach in the most powerful 'ndrina in Vibo and among the most powerful in Calabria. Above all because he is not simply an affiliate of the clan, but a member of the family. So much so that in various ways, especially with threats, attempts have been made to make him retrace his steps. A " triad " - that of Moscato, Mantella, Mancuso - of collaborations that triggered the earthquake in the 'ndrangheta of Vibo, since it involves the three most powerful and bloodthirsty 'ndrine in the province. They are joined by the figures of Bartolomeo Arena, who revealed the "new recruits" of the 'ndrine of the capital, and Nicola Figliuzzi , linked both to the crime of the Preserre and to the Patania of Stefanaconi. Between 2019 and 2020, Salvatore Schiavone , originally from Nicotera, as well as Renato Marziano , who was only recently made public. Also close to the Piscopisanis, he explained that he had «stopped believing in the values ??of loyalty and respect of the 'ndrangheta». Boom in repentance in 10 years Above all, Walter Loielo , a member of the homonymous family from Gerocarne, is the one who makes the Preserre 'ndrangheta tremble . He has shed light on several murders in the bloody feud against the Emanuele family, but also on that of his father Antonino Loielo, killed by his son for family reasons. In 2023, three heavy collaborations arrive, in what has been a "black" year for the Vibo Valentia clans between raids, investigations and the over 200 convictions of Rinascita Scott. But also and above all for the decision to repent by Antonio Accorinti, son of the alleged boss Nino and who was recently heard in the Maestrale trial, by Pasquale Megna , another prominent element linked to the Mancuso family, and above all by Onofrio Barbieri , at the top of the Bonavota 'ndrina of Sant'Onofrio. Barbieri himself revealed three murders, those of Alfredo and Raffaele Cracolici and Domenico Belsito. For this, Francesco Fortuna was convicted , the Bonavota killer who decided to follow the same path in the summer and collaborate with justice, news made public only yesterday. The latest in a long line: in just 10 years, almost all the 'ndrine of Vibo have been involved by at least one informer. Each, for different reasons, has broken a wall of silence that has lasted decades. "For too long, the State in Vibo has shown superficiality," said the prosecutor Camillo Falvo recently, underlining however the radical change of recent years. A change of direction, also marked by the numerous operations of the police, probably also perceived by those who, for different reasons, have decided to collaborate with justice.

https://www.corrieredellacalabria.i...o-questo-cretino-me-lo-faccio-in-piazza/the investigation 'Ndrangheta, the feud narrowly avoided by a slap. "I'll do this idiot in the square" Among the protagonists Pasquale Conidi, ready to "protect" his friend Foti from a possible retaliation. Only the arrest avoided the worst Published: 11/14/2024 – 6:33 LAMEZIA TERME "I do it in the square, this idiot doesn't understand a damn thing...". A particularly hot summer, that of 2021, and the risk of a criminal escalation that could have ended with a murder. It is 2021 and the investigators intercept a series of conversations that see among the protagonists Pasquale Conidi (class of '55) and some individuals who, according to the Anti-Mafia District of Florence, would be part of a criminal group dedicated to cocaine trafficking between Calabria and the Tuscan capital. Conidi ended up in handcuffs in the operation, conducted by the Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of Florence , together with Giuseppe Foti, Antonio Callipari and Marco Trimarchi. Carmela Greco, Stefano Diversi and Fabio Cugliari ended up under house arrest. The scorching summer of 2021 During the investigation phase, however, the investigators come across a heated dispute involving Conidi's partner, Giuseppe Foti. On the monitored telephone numbers, the investigators are unable to intercept any between the two, "confirming the use of encrypted telephones," the investigating judge notes in the order. It is the evening of July 25, 2021 when Conidi, from Lamezia Terme, arrives in Stefanaconi, in the Vibo Valentia area, to reach his friend Foti. Investigators, in the meantime, trace a long series of meetings between the two, continuous trips between Lamezia, Curinga and Stefanaconi, always to Foti's house. The slap of discord The picture was still unclear when investigators learned of Conidi's intentions to return to Florence shortly after Ferragosto. But, in the meantime, there was still a matter to be resolved. "I'll bring you the bread... the suppressant..." Conidi said in a phone call to his partner Diversi from Tosano, while he told another partner from Calabria that he needed to meet him because "there's a good business deal for you... with the salami... with the cheeses that you work with...". In reality, Conidi wanted to meet his fellow countryman to find - as investigators would soon ascertain - some firearms to avenge an affront suffered by his friend and partner Giuseppe Foti. Apparently, in fact, Foti had slapped a certain "son of Maisano", fearing, as a consequence, an immediate reprisal from him . The discussion is addressed by Conidi while he is arguing with his brother, to whom he also says that he has already taken steps to obtain firearms through his friend from Mileto. «Peppone had an argument… now… this afternoon a friend of mine is coming… from Mileto… maybe he has… because this guy has gotten too big for his boots… and Peppe did the right thing! He gave him a “moscata” (…) I told him “cousin, in the end, what do they have… we’ll find the pistols… we’ve got the rifles!”. The conversation between the brothers, however, takes on worrying overtones since Pasquale Conidi says he is ready to carry out an ambush. «(…) at this point we’ll just shoot him! (…) the mess he’s made… we’ll ring the bell “come down for a minute”…». And again: «There’s a war! Now let’s see how it ends… if someone dies, he dies! Tomorrow, if anything… let’s do it tomorrow…». "I'll do this idiot in the square" Later that evening, Pasquale Conidi tells a certain “Giovanni” «of the provocation suffered by Foti di Saverio Maisano», the investigating judge reports in the order, inside a barber shop, and of his intention to avenge him. «(…) I was really pissed off… I had firefights with the car… with the armored vehicles… imagine if I think about this idiot, I do it in the square… this idiot didn't understand a damn thing, that's not the problem…». And, at a certain point, Conidi raises some doubts: «if he left without having any reason… there's something behind it… it doesn't hold up Giova'… you understand that it doesn't hold up… it's premeditated, or don't you agree?». According to Conidi – as confirmed by the wiretaps – the existing friction between Foti and Maisano «derived from the hegemony that both wanted to have over drug trafficking», the investigating judge reports in the order, also citing a certain “Cola” who, for the investigators, is none other than Nicola Bartolotta, father-in-law of Saverio Maisano and «historical head of one of the 'ndrangheta structures operating in Stefanaconi», the investigating judge also notes in the order. The weapon ready and the arrest On August 14, Conidi receives the expected phone call from Mileto's friend, whom he reaches shortly thereafter. During the meeting, as the investigating judge notes in the order, Conidi "looks at two pistols, including a .357, stating that the latter was his "personal" weapon", weapons that Mileto's friend wants to sell him for 4 thousand euros. The two, therefore, agree to buy a single pistol that Conidi hides inside a sort of secret compartment in his car. The man, however, is stopped shortly thereafter in Sant'Onofrio. The car is searched and the officers manage to locate the secret compartment inside which they find a 7.65 cal. pistol with the serial number erased and 20 bullets, with the subsequent arrest of Conidi.
