Last week, Gerry Hutch returned to Ireland after spending 12 weeks on holiday in Spain.

After his ‘not-guilty’ verdict, Hutch is a free man who is able to come and go without any restrictions. The Monk is believed to have been living openly in north Dublin, a sign of his increased confidence the level of threat he is facing has diminished.

Irish crime gangs are interesting, seem to be quick to kill. Especially that Hyland, E Dunne, Fat Freddie feud era. Say 2005 to 2015.

Monk Hutch always read he's not into drug business. Also not some thug who went around bullying, beating others. According to what I've read.

Apparently, there's some tv clip of when he's about 13 talking about how he can't resist thieving. Can't walk past a car if there's something left inside.

I'd say he's in a better position than the Kinahans, who must know times up soon

100% they are also tighter as the Kinahans I believe.

The Hutch Organised Crime Group has expanded its operations and amassed considerable wealth, enabling them to acquire a vast portfolio of properties in Ireland, United Kingdom, Spain, Bulgaria, and Turkey. This portfolio includes various business premises and entire apartment blocks. The criminal organization is regarded as a major player in Irish organized crime, and its influence reaches beyond national borders. Its tentacles have spread to Spain, United Kingdom, and beyond, making it a formidable and far-reaching entity.

Hutch attended peace talks in Amsterdam in bid to end bloody gangland feud. The Irish Sun reported that the sides met after the intervention of Christy Kinahan Snr, who they say was appalled by the fallout of the feud. No idea if the feud is still ongoing or if they have an agreement.

Did anyone of the old IRA terrorist group (Or freedom fighters if you see them that way) gravitate into this type of crime group in Ireland? The IRA was at its peak in the 1980's, I can see many of the younger members of it still being in their 50's today.

If anything, the IRA today is closer to being just another criminal group that it is to being a terrorist or freedom fighting group. It was formed with good reason, first in the Irish Civil War in the 1920's (Original IRA) and then the Provisional IRA in the 60's (as a response to British Army atrocities against Catholics - if you ever have a chance to watch the movies Bloody Sunday, or the Ballymurphy Precedent (currently on Prime) amongst others. But now, after the cease fire, the splinter groups are more into making money any way possible.

The INLA is not mentioned much also notorious. Like Willie Gallagher who Gerry Hutch claimed offered to kill James ‘Jaws’ and Sadie Byrne in the aftermath of the flash funeral of their son David.

Hah! I wouldn’t bet on that. Especially not where Christy’s concerned. You’d have to be a truly horrible human being to involve your sons in that world.

It really escalated after Gary Hutch's murder, but the Regency Hotel attack aimed at Daniel Kinahan was unlike other hits 'pure terror' .
Don't forget the Continuity IRA claimed responsibility for the AK47 attack. The Continuity IRA is believed by Gardaí to have been involved in a number of gangland killings in Dublin and Limerick.

‘Important questions’ for Gerry Hutch to answer as top cop calls on Dail hopeful to tell voters ‘where money came from’

A FORMER top Garda has called on Gerry 'The Monk' Hutch to be "transparent" over his finances during the election campaign.

Retired Supt Martin Mooney, who was based in Hutch's old stomping ground, believes voters are entitled to know how he funded his property empire.

Ex-top cop Martin Mooney has called for Gerry Hutch to be transparent about his financesCredit: Garrett White - The Sun
Mr Mooney, who also led the investigation into the murder of Eddie Hutch, told of his surprise over the Monk's decision to stand in next week's election.

The ex-guard also told how he would like to see Hutch debating key issues with other candidates.

Mr Mooney said: "He has to be open with the voters and he should tell them where his money came from.

"Gerry Hutch is idolised in the north inner city because he was seen as the saviour of the Corinthians boxing club.

Watched the interviews, you would think the guy would be keeping his head down and staying in the sun in Lanzarote.

He will have a target on his back!

Gerry Hutch has handful of inmates canvassing votes for him in Mountjoy Prison
There are over 700 inmates whose votes are up for grabs in the famous jail which lies in the heart of Dublin Central where The Monk is hoping to get elected as a TD
