I'd say they're still nowhere near as big as the Jamaican posses were in the 80s. Those guys had big time drug rings all over the country.

This Venezuelan gang is mostly involved in theft and pimping out homeless migrant girls. They're drug dealing activities are nothing compared to what the Mexican, Dominican, Puerto Rican or even Central American gangs are moving in the States. Feds are coming down hard on them. I doubt they'll be long on the scene as a major factor.


It's less about them being big time or significant element than their current characteristics for now. In tens years or so their going to be in a different position.
