The arrest of five men for homicide could weaken the street gang environment in Montreal, in addition to curbing the possible escalation of violence resulting from a violent conflict between two groups.
The murder of one of the victims, Christopher-Shawn Jean Vilsaint, causes friction within organized crime. Leader of a coalition of blue allegiance gangs called 26 gang, a code referring to "2b gang", which means "Blue Brothers Gang", Jean Vilsaint was shot last May. He was the leader of blue groups spread across Montreal and Laval.
