Her remarks come after Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus is set to visit Israel amid friction with Australia’s ally in the Middle East.

“The only person who should be going to Israel on behalf of Australia is the Prime Minister of Australia,” Ms Roberts said.

The Houthis have increased the frequency of firing ballistic missiles at Israel for several weeks without any significant breaks.

CENTCOM strikes key Houthi tunnel base under 24 hours after IDF meeting
US Central Command (CENTCOM) on Wednesday said it carried out precision strikes on the Houthis’ underground advanced conventional weapons storage facilities in Yemen.

The airstrikes took place less than 24 hours after CENTCOM’s deputy commander met with the IDF’s deputy chief of staff, it said.

The Houthis had used the facilities to conduct attacks against US Navy vessels and merchant ships in the southern Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, CENTCOM said. “The strikes are part of CENTCOM’s effort to degrade Iranian-backed Houthi attempts to threaten regional partners and military and merchant vessels in the region,”

Increasing frequency of Houthi fire
On Sunday, the Houthis fired another ballistic missile at Israel, and they have increased the frequency of firing ballistic missiles at Israel for several weeks without any significant breaks.

Many of these attacks have forced millions of Israelis in the Tel Aviv and central regions into bomb shelters and safe rooms.

There have been no fatalities from Houthi attacks since last July, but NIS 11 million in damage was caused to a school in the Tel Aviv area. Falling shrapnel after air-defense systems shot down Houthi ballistic missiles caused other damage.

The Houthi attacks have continued even after Israel launched four separate large-scale airstrikes on areas under the terrorist group’s control in Yemen.

1. The IAF struck the Houthis’ main maritime ports multiple times and their international airport on December 25
2. Even a CENTCOM strike against a key Houthi installation on December 31 did not stop the missiles being launched at Israel.

So far, the Houthis have launched more than 200 ballistic missiles and close to 200 drones against Israel.

Israel has said it would target Houthi leaders, but that or an end to the missile attacks has not taken place yet.
The Mossad and the US are said to be making an effort to improve their intelligence gathering on the Houthis

12 complaints said filed against IDF soldiers abroad over alleged war crimes in Gaza

None of the cases have yielded arrests;
after latest incident in Brazil, Israel said to set up joint desk to assess and respond to legal threats to traveling ex-troops

Foreign Ministry knows of at least 12 cases in which complaints have been filed abroad against Israel Defense Forces soldiers accusing them of war crimes in Gaza, Channel 12 news reported Sunday, amid reports of Israelis being urged to leave various countries to avoid potential prosecution, including in Brazil on Sunday.

Such complaints have been filed in Brazil, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Belgium, the Netherlands, Serbia, Ireland and Cyprus, the report said, citing figures presented in a ministerial meeting. According to the Haaretz daily, the list also includes South Africa and France.

An IDF soldier who survived Hamas’s massacre at the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023 hurriedly ended his vacation in Brazil on Sunday morning after the country’s Federal Court ordered police to open a war crimes investigation on him, according to Brazilian media.

He was being investigated under suspicion that he was involved “in the destruction of a residential building in the Gaza Strip while using explosives outside of combat” in November, the Brazilian Metrópoles news outlet reported.

Channel 12 noted though the Brazil incident had nearly become a diplomatic crisis that in most cases,
1. the complaints did not result in an investigation
2. and in none of them was anyone arrested

The network reported that during the same ministerial meeting Sunday, data was presented showing that in the second half of 2024 physical antisemitic attacks rose by 104% while online antisemitic cases rose by 63%

The meeting’s objective was reportedly to devise procedures for dealing with cases similar to Sunday’s Brazil case.

Meanwhile, Haaretz reported Sunday that a joint desk has been set up by the Military Advocate General, the Foreign Ministry, the National Security Council, and the Shin Bet to assess legal threats to soldiers abroad.

“The Foreign Ministry draws the attention of Israelis, to posts on social media about their military service, and to the fact that
anti-Israeli elements may exploit these posts to initiate futile legal proceedings against them,” the Foreign Ministry added.

“The State of Israel is dealing today with an organized campaign by pro-Palestinian organizations that are trying to gather materials that soldiers have posted over the course of the war, and to use them to try to have those soldiers arrested,” explained Israeli Ambassador to Brazil, Daniel Zonshine to Channel 12 on Sunday.

Yuval Kaplinski, former head of the International Division of the State Attorney’s Office, told the network:
“If a soldier posts a video in which you see destroyed houses, or posts [a video of] a demolition of houses, and he says:
1. ‘We’re going to blow up all the houses in Gaza
2. and kill civilians, and settle there, and destroy all of Gaza and all the Gazans,’

He is, essentially, declaring that he is carrying out a war crime.”

If so, such insensitive and irresponsible posts would be their death knell indeed

The reports come amid a campaign by the Hind Rajab Foundation, a nonprofit based in Belgium, to identify Israeli soldiers who have published videos to social media in which they commit, claim to have committed, or appear to endorse committing potential war crimes, and to file complaints against the soldiers on that basis.

The organization, which proclaims that it is “devoted to ending Israeli impunity and achieving justice for Hind Rajab and all the victims of the Gaza Genocide,” is named after six-year-old Hind Rajab, who was killed in Gaza in January.

Her death was blamed on the IDF, but an initial probe conducted by the army said that there were no troops in the area at the time.

Netanyahu is currently not planning on attending the commemoration, an aide to the premier told The Times of Israel Thursday, after an aide for Polish President Andrzej Duda confirmed that he had asked Prime Minister Donald Tusk to guarantee Netanyahu’s safety.

Duda’s aide Malgorzata Paprocka confirmed Thursday that the president had sent a letter to Tusk:
“to ensure that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is able to participate in the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, should he express such a wish.”

Duda said “Every person from Israel, every official from that country, should be able to take part in this unique event,”

Duda has frequently been at odds with the Polish government, suggesting it may not cooperate with his request, according to Bloomberg.

According to Bloomberg, which first reported on the Wednesday letter, Duda had asked for Netanyahu’s potential stay to be “unhindered” due to the events’ “absolutely exceptional circumstances.”

US House votes to sanction International Criminal Court ICC over Israel arrest warrants

Nearly all House Republicans, several Democrats back legislation punishing the ICC for going after Netanyahu, Gallant, but measure will face bumpier path through Senate

The US House of Representatives voted on Thursday to sanction the ICC to protest its decision to issue arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defense minister over Israel’s campaign against the Hamas terror group in Gaza.

The sanctions include blocking or revoking visas and prohibiting US property transactions.

The legislation states that the US and Israel are not signatories to the Rome Statute that created the ICC, which accordingly has no jurisdiction over their conduct.

45 Democrats joined 198 Republicans in backing the bill.

The House vote, one of the first since the new Congress was seated last week, underscored strong support for Israel’s government among President-elect Donald Trump’s fellow Republicans, who now control both chambers, in Congress.

Trump will be sworn in on January 20, 2025 for a second term as president.

“America is passing this law because a kangaroo court is seeking to arrest the prime minister of our great ally, Israel,” Florida Republican Brian Mast, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said in a House speech before the vote.

The legislation still needs to be okayed in the Senate where it will have a harder time passing, although newly appointed Republican majority leader John Thune has promised swift consideration of the act so Trump can sign it into law shortly after taking office.

Programs like DEI excludes us and does not encourage them to assimilate, support and value the host countries, they chose to live in

I reckon, some perhaps most Immigrant Muslims in the West, want to live as in an Islamic country they chose to leave behind -- enjoying everything the West offers, all the Western benefits, perks, better living conditions and the Lifestyle including Freedom to demonstrate etc. but don't assimilate, don't embrace our values, responsibilities and obligations of the Western country they chose to live in even scant respect and regard for our law enforcement -- biting the hand that feeds them

Prime example:
1. violent pro-Palestinian demonstrations
2. destruction, disruption, vandalism
3. destabilization of economy, political turmoil, civil unrest
4. disgraceful antisemitism IN Israel's Western allies their chosen Home who are not against Palestinians

Support the country they chose to live in, be loyal or go and live in the country they support

If it was the other way around we have to comply with their everything including their dress code -- that is... if we are allowed in!

Our governments let it happen -- it is all about diversity, their religion, their culture, their heritage -- ours get pushed farther and further away being obliterated
