Ok the wiseguys can defendant themself in the streets but in the prisons especially in the West Coast the bosses must send money to who control the prison for avoid problems?

I wouldn't be surprised if some bosses or high level captains paid if they were in prisons far from home and if they were mixed with the general population. Generally mob guys are well respected anywhere in prison but it's not true universally, there are always nuts or haters or people who are just looking for trouble.

So why not pay a gang a few bucks for peace of mind. There's no shame in it, numbers are what counts in prison and a 60 year old mob guy can't do much against the hordes of blacks and hispanics. I think Scarfo paid the Mexicans in La Tuna, for instance.

Also I don't remember who but I'm pretty sure I read some of the Medellin or Cali guys who served time in the US also paid for protection. It might have been the Ochoas, I don't remember.

If you want to be left alone its gonna cost you a little bread. So pay up or get fucked with its your own choice as its business and nothing personal. This is just common etiquette that must be followed to survive.

Another thing, prisoners don't give a fuck who you are, many are already serving life. Are you fucking kidding me? In my opinion, Gotti lost zero points by getting knocked on his ass by a young, healthy, strapping black man. Especially since he didn't seek protective custody after the assault. Those things actually earn you points in prison. He was old and sick. If anything, the guy who assaulted him should be ashamed or at the very least not be proud. What he did was no accomplishment.
