VENICE "In Veneto there has been a slight increase in the criminal phenomenon in general, with a decrease in crimes against public administration and organized crime, but only because they are more difficult to investigate, also due to a lack of staff". This was declared this morning by the Attorney General of Venice, Federico Prato (in the cover photo together with the governor of Veneto Luca Zaia) , on the eve of the inauguration of the judicial year of the Court of Appeal. Of particular concern are sexual crimes and stalking, which have seen a 43% increase. "It is necessary to maintain particular attention on the phenomenon - noted Prato -, also with reference to minors. There is a tendency to increase reports, each Prosecutor's Office has equipped itself with a specialized work group, very oriented in this sector", he concluded. Organized crime in Veneto is on the rise, with the establishment of more criminal entities along the route that connects Verona, Vicenza, Padua and Venice. The territorial division "sees the 'ndrangheta crime as dominant, in particular the Grande Aracri clan in Padua and Vicenza ", Prato underlined. The collaborators of justice "have reported that when questions of territorial division arise in northern Italy, the problem is solved in Calabria ", he continued, because " the Calabrian leaders recommend keeping a low profile in the North , to avoid the attention of the police". "We find ourselves - concluded the attorney general - faced with widespread and long-established crime, which acts in underground ways, difficult to investigate".
