Hamas' show of force:

Hamas appears to be emerging from tunnels and rubble in Gaza to show that it never lost control of most of the area despite 15 months of war.

While Hamas suffered many blows from the IDF
1. it was able to recruit new members
2. it even kept trucks and vans ready to return to the streets No shortage of fuel for them...
3. and show its presence.

Palestinian media such as Quds has shown the images and videos from Gaza,
1. depicting this as a Hamas victory.
2. They portray the videos as showing “Palestinian factions,” and not just Hamas.
3. They also show civilians celebrating alongside the gunmen.

Shehab media, which is linked to Hamas, also has put out videos showing the “victory” they claim in Gaza.

One shows masses of Hamas gunmen in a stylized video, clearly produced for this moment, with the men appearing to emerge from a kind of tunnel.

Another image Shehab put out shows October 7 with Hamas pulling a wounded Israeli soldier out of a tank that Hamas destroyed, and contrasts it with Hamas holding aloft rifles on top of white trucks in Gaza, declaring victory.

The videos may be meant for propaganda in some cases, but the overall message is clear.

Hamas has emerged from tunnels in Gaza and from the rubble in some areas and is clearly in control.
The group never disappeared and was never dismantled.

Back in March 2024 The Washington Post reported that
1. “the IDF says it has ‘dismantled’ 20 of the original 24 Hamas battalions.
2. Dismantled does not mean destroyed.”
3. Indeed, dismantled did not mean destroyed.

Hamas has reemerged quickly.
This is not a group that seems to have suffered nearly as many losses as depicted, or it has been able to replace most of the losses and maintain command and control.

Hamas is emerging in Gaza quickly to take control and showcase its abilities. It wants to portray this as a major victory, even if it suffered many losses. It doesn’t want any vacuum to emerge or any areas to emerge where it loses control.

Also the hostages materialized out of thin air. IDF no idea where from...

Report: Senior Hamas official says organization is ready for dialogue with U.S.

The New York Times reported that senior Hamas official Mousa Abu Marzouk said that:
Hamas is ready to open dialogue with the United States and achieve "understandings on everything."

Israel's October 7 and subsequent failures
1. Israeli-Palestinian conflict: catapulted onto the World Center Stage
2. Hamas: elevated these terrorist Jihadi death cult, to someone 'legitimate' sitting at the table as equals, negotiating their terms
3. Israel: Global pariah
4. Israel: burning and bleeding, on all fronts
5. antisemitism cancer rampant, around the World including the Vatican

Why this ratio?

1. One Israeli civilian for 30 Palestinian prisoners
2. One Israeli soldier for 50 Palestinian prisoners

Failed to defend the citizens: Israel’s top general resigns over October 7 failures, adding to pressure on Netanyahu

Israel’s top general resigned Tuesday, taking responsibility for security failures tied to Hamas’ surprise attack that triggered the war in Gaza and adding to pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has delayed any public inquiry that could potentially implicate his leadership.

Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi is the most senior Israeli figure to resign over the security and intelligence breakdown on October 7 when thousands of Hamas-led militants carried out a land, sea and air assault into southern Israel, rampaging through army bases and nearby communities.

The attack — the single deadliest on Israel in its history — killed some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and the militants abducted another 250 More than 90 captives are still in Gaza, around a third believed to be dead.

Halevi’s resignation, effective March 6 came days into the ceasefire with Hamas that could lead to an end to the 15-month war and the return of remaining captives.

Major General Yaron Finkelman, head of Israel’s Southern Command, which oversees operations in Gaza, also resigned.

IDF in Crisis Despite a Cease-fire: Why Fewer Israelis Were Turning Up to Fight in Gaza

As the conflict with Hamas became Israel's longest war, it has taken its toll – on morale, economic subsistence and mental health – leading to declining rates of reservists responding to call-up notices.

The repercussions go far beyond the IDF and Gaza
The cease-fire and hostage release deal can't come too soon for many of Israel's soldiers fighting in Gaza.

Bibi vowed to eradicate Hamas. He failed

1. Very costly, heavy losses
2. brutal human cost all sides
3. horrific toll all sides
4. and Hamas bigger and more lethal

Protesters at Columbia distribute flyers depicting boot stomping on Star of David

Protesters disrupted a class at Columbia University on the “History of Modern Israel” distributing flyers depicting a Star of David crushed under a boot with the words "Crush Zionism."

Another flyer showed a man wearing a Palestinian kaffiyeh waving a burning Israeli flag, accompanied by the phrase
"Burn Zionism to the ground."

On the first day of classes, anti-Israel protestors interrupted “History of Modern Israel” class and handed out flyers showing a boot crushing a Star of David.

Columbia is out of control. And to be clear, there is no “academic freedom” to disrupt classes.

'Antisemitic rot': Trump's UN pick Stefanik backs defunding UNRWA citing 'terrorist ties' to Hamas

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations nominee Elise Stefanik told her Senate confirmation hearing on Tuesday that she will prioritize combatting the "antisemitic rot" within the United Nations while reiterating her opposition to funding the UN agency UNRWA dedicated to Palestinian refugees.

Stefanik told the hearing:
"Combatting antisemitism is something I am deeply committed to doing in this role, and it's one of the reasons why I was interested in this position during my conversations with President Trump,"

Stefanik lauded her role in being a leader in "combatting antisemitic rot" while in Congress, specifically her role in the hearing questioning university presidents, as one of her qualifications for being UN ambassador.

"The U.S. is the largest contributor to the UN by far," she said in her opening statement. "Our tax dollars should not be complicit in propping up entities that are counter to American interests, antisemitic or engaging in fraud, corruption or terrorism."

Amsterdam comedy club cancels Israeli stand-up Yohay Sponder, after threats

Boom said that it believed in freedom of expression without hate and offered to help Sponder relocate to another venue.

An Israeli comedian's stand-up show at an Amsterdam comedy club was canceled Monday due to threats about his performance, according to statements by comedian Yohay Sponder on Boom Chicago.

Boom Chicago said in a statement that upon the announcement of Sponder's Saturday show, they received "significant negative reactions" online and from visitors, including responses that were "outright threatening."

Boom said:
"We began to worry about the safety of our performers, audience, and colleagues. Therefore, we made the difficult decision to cancel the performance," "We are deeply saddened that this situation has escalated into a polarized debate about Gaza.

In our 32 years of existence, we have never experienced anything like this.
Very nasty criticism has come at us from all sides, even though we genuinely tried to do what was best for everyone."

Boom said that it believed in freedom of expression without hate and offered to help Sponder relocate to another venue.

Amsterdam comedy club cancels Israeli stand-up Yohay Sponder, after threats

Postponing the trip:
Sponder said on Instagram on Monday that the show had been postponed, and a new date and location would be announced soon.

"We're working on a new bigger venue, more beautiful, more central, better, we're going to get together and laugh as Jews are supposed to," Sponder thanked his fans for their support.

Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Netherlands welcomed Boom's decision to cancel the show, asserting that the venue had listened to arguments against allowing him to perform.

BDS NL said on Instagram Sunday:
"Yohay Sponder is a cultural ambassador for Israel, tasked with whitewashing Israel's atrocities against Palestinians,"

"Where other cultural ambassadors do so with music and art, Yohay Sponder chooses:
1. hate speech,
2. dehumanization of Palestinians,
3. anti-Muslim racism
4. and denying and ridiculing war crimes and crimes against humanity."

Sponder's comedy routines:
1. joke about Jewish and Israeli life
2. and recently have made light of and mused about the war
3. and mocked criticism of Israel during the war.

'Wilders, like Jews, must be exterminated': Geert Wilders receives death threats

Wilders posted on his X a list of threats received by the Dutch opposition politician, a long-standing Israel-ally, such as
1. Wilders, like Jews, is vermin that must be exterminated
2. Zionist dogs like you will be shot
3. A bullet
4. You will die, Geert Wilders
5. We will cut your head soon…
6. One day, your head will be cut off and hanged in the famous square of Pakistan
7. We are coming… Be ready
8. Be patient, they will reach you very soon
9. I will personally offer a reward to whoever cuts the neck of this cursed person

Wilders told The Jerusalem Post that he had conveyed the threats to the police, but with,
"all the threats, hundreds of times a year, sometimes they can find the sender and prosecute, but most of the times they can’t or the authorities of the country of the sender will not cooperate with the Dutch authorities."

He added that last year, two Pakistanis, one of whom is an Imam, were sentenced to prison by a Dutch court for issuing a Fatwa to kill Wilders, The Post.

The trial happened in absentia because Pakistani authorities would not cooperate.

Experience with hate:

Wilders previously told The Post that he experienced the hatred that some people in the Middle East held for Israel when traveling in countries like Egypt when he was a young man.

He said it was tragic how when Israel was mentioned, people he had cordial interactions with became incensed.

Chief US diplomat vows 'unwavering support' for Israel

The United States' new top diplomat Marco Rubio reaffirmed the country's "unwavering support" for Israel,
1. days into a fragile ceasefire in the Gaza Strip
2. and a large-scale raid in the occupied West Bank.

As Israel pursued its deadly operation in Jenin, Rubio assured Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Washington's continued backing.

Rubio spoke to Netanyahu from Washington on Wednesday night to "underscore that maintaining the United States' steadfast support for Israel is a top priority for President Trump," State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said.

He also
1. "congratulated the Prime Minister on Israel's successes against Hamas and Hezbollah
2. and pledged to work tirelessly to help free all remaining hostages held in Gaza,"

In one of his first acts in office, Trump ended sanctions on extremist Israeli settlers in the West Bank imposed by Biden over their attacks on Palestinians.

During his first term in the White House, Trump put forward a peace plan he and his proponents called "the deal of the century", which would have included major Israeli annexations in the West Bank.

Operation Iron Wall:
Prime Minister Netanyahu said the raid aimed to "eradicate terrorism" in Jenin.

Immediately after the hostage deal was announced, Hamas leader Khalil al-Haya delivered a 17-minute speech from Qatar, praising October 7 and vowing to repeat it. "October 7 will forever be a source of pride for our people."

This is what UNRWA schools are teaching the future generation of young Palestinians:
1. The solution for Jerusalem? We kill the Jews.
2. We get rid of the Jews.
3. Inshallah, Jews will be wiped out from all of Palestine by the grace of Allah

US intel figures show Hamas has recruited up to 15,000 new fighters during Gaza war

Sources acknowledge Palestinian terror group’s success in enlisting new members but say many of the recruits are young and untrained;
Israel estimates some 20,000 terrorists killed

The Palestinian terror group Hamas has recruited between 10,000 and 15,000 members since the start of its war with Israel, according to two congressional sources briefed on US intelligence, suggesting the Iran-backed fighters could remain a persistent threat to Israel.

The intelligence indicates a similar number of Hamas fighters have been killed during that period, the sources said.
The latest official US estimates have not been previously reported.

Hamas and Israel began a ceasefire on Sunday after 15 months of a conflict that began with the terror group’s devastating attack on October 7, 2023 which sparked the war in the Gaza Strip and inflamed the Middle East.

In the days since the ceasefire:
Hamas has shown itself to be deeply entrenched in Gaza despite Israel’s vow to destroy the terror group.

The territory’s Hamas-run administration has moved quickly to reimpose security measures and to begin restoring basic services to parts of the enclave, much of which has been reduced to wasteland in the fighting.

Since the start of the war, American officials have not said publicly how many fighters Washington believes Hamas has lost, only noting that the group has been significantly degraded and has likely lost thousands.

Hamas cannot be allowed to continue to exist.

Memo: US freezes almost all aid except for Israel, Egypt

The United States, the world's biggest donor, froze virtually all foreign aid on Friday, making exceptions only for,
1. emergency food,
2. and military funding for Israel and Egypt.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio sent an internal memo days after President Donald Trump took office vowing an "America First" policy of tightly restricting assistance overseas.

"No new funds shall be obligated for new awards or extensions of existing awards until each proposed new award or extension has been reviewed and approved," said the memo to staff seen by AFP.

The sweeping order appears to affect everything from development assistance to military aid -- including to Ukraine which received billions of dollars in weapons under Trump's predecessor Joe Biden as it tries to repel a Russian invasion.

But the memo explicitly made exceptions for military assistance to,
1. Israel, whose longstanding major arms packages from the United States have expanded further since the Gaza war
2. and Egypt, which has received generous US defense funding since it signed a peace treaty with Israel in 1979

Rubio also made an exception for US contributions to emergency food assistance, which the United States has been contributing following crises around the world including in Sudan and Syria.

4 Israeli soldiers swapped for 200 Palestinian terrorists; north Gaza shut over hostage still held

Jerusalem/Cairo/Gaza: Hamas freed four female Israeli soldiers on Saturday in exchange for 200 Palestinian prisoners, but a delay in freeing another hostage prompted Israel to block hundreds of thousands of Gazans from returning to the enclave's bombed-out north.

The four Israelis freed in the second swap of the week-old Gaza truce were led onto a podium in Gaza City amid a large crowd of Palestinians and surrounded by dozens of armed Hamas men.

The hostages waved and smiled before being led off, entering Red Cross vehicles to be transported to Israeli forces.

Dispute:
Joy in Israel over Saturday's release was clouded by disappointment after it emerged that civilian Arbel Yehud, 29 who had been abducted with her boyfriend from their home in Kibbutz Nir Oz, was not among those released on Saturday.

An Israeli military spokesman called it a breach of the truce, while Hamas said it was a technical issue.
A Hamas official said the group had informed mediators that she was alive and would be freed next Saturday.

Trump releases thousands of one-ton bomb shipments frozen by Biden to Israel, official says

The delivery was frozen by the Biden administration in May due to the Israeli operation in Rafah.

The White House released 1,800 one-ton bomb shipments previously frozen by former US president Joe Biden, an Israeli official told
The Jerusalem Post on Saturday.

Trump said on the Truth Social media platform without providing further details:
"A lot of things that were ordered and paid for by Israel, but have not been sent by Biden, are now on their way!"

Protesters have unsuccessfully demanded an arms embargo.

Well... Pink Floyd, Roger Waters: Another antisemitic Brick in the malignant cancerous anti-Israel activism Wall

‘Sorry to ruin your weekend’: Israeli singer calls out Roger Waters over released hostages

Israeli musician Aviv Gefen challenged Pink Floyd's Roger Waters on social media, sharing photos of four freed female hostages in response to Waters' denial of October 7 atrocities.

Aviv Gefen, a prominent Israeli musician, took to Instagram on Saturday, following the release of four female hostages from Hamas captivity in Gaza, to call out Roger Waters, the former Pink Floyd musician and vocal supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement, promoting boycotts, divestment, and economic sanctions against Israel

Waters is widely known for his harsh criticism of Israel, often stirring controversy with his inflammatory remarks.

Roger Waters’ history of inflammatory remarks:
Waters, 81 has long been associated with anti-Israel rhetoric.

In a contentious interview with British journalist Piers Morgan in July 2024 he claimed:
There was "no evidence of babies being burned or women being murdered on October 7" calling such reports "lies spread by ZAKA (an Israeli rescue organization) to justify genocide against Gaza’s residents."

Morgan pushed back, citing UN reports that documented sexual violence and other atrocities during the October 7 Hamas attacks.

Waters’ comments drew international condemnation, and several Israeli radio stations responded by banning his music.
Waters, whose anti-Israel rhetoric is seen by many as crossing into antisemitism, has faced growing backlash worldwide.

For Israelis, his comments during the recent conflict are particularly painful, as they trivialize the suffering caused by the October 7 attacks.

‘Sorry to ruin your weekend’: Israeli singer calls out Roger Waters over released hostages

The photo showed the hostages moments before their transfer to Red Cross vehicles, where they were seen raising their hands in a gesture of triumph in front of Hamas terrorists.

The four women, who worked as border observers and were abducted by Hamas during the October 7 attack, were released on Saturday.

Their accounts of captivity, including harsh conditions and psychological torment, have drawn international attention and further condemnation of Hamas' actions.

While their return has been celebrated, it also highlights the plight of over 80 Israelis who remain hostages in Gaza, including children and the elderly.

Gaza ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement: Disastrous Israeli failure in Gaza

Hamas wins Gaza war, Israel fails to achieve its goals
Ex-Israeli general Giora Eiland told Maariv newspaper, ‘This war was a disastrous Israeli failure in Gaza,’

the former head of the Israeli National Security Council said Sunday:
Palestinian group Hamas has won the Gaza war and prevented Israel from achieving its goals.

Quote
"This war was a failure for a very simple reason that Hamas did not only succeed in preventing Israel from achieving its goals, but also remained in power,”

Eiland, who headed the National Security Council from 2004 to 2006 said:
1. the ceasefire deal does not prevent Hamas from rearming.
2. "If Hamas moves against Israel, it will be violating the agreement,"

Eiland was the mastermind of the so-called Generals’ Plan, which calls for imposing a blockade on northern Gaza and forcibly displacing Palestinians from the area as part of Tel Aviv’s genocidal war on the enclave.

In November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for its war on the enclave.

billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk tells far-right AfD rally there’s ‘too much focus on past guilt’ in Germany

Elon Musk addressing a rally of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in Halle, eastern Germany, via video link:
“There is too much focus on past guilt (in Germany), and we need to move beyond that.”
“Children should not feel guilty for the sins of their parents – their great-grandparents even,”

The comments come after Musk made a straight-armed gesture during US President Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday that many saw as a Nazi salute, though the antisemitism-fighting organization ADL called it instead an “awkward gesture.”

Musk has in the past, shared white supremacist memes and theories on X that have drawn accusations of antisemitism.

Israel must win this war
Jewish News Syndicate by Caroline B. Glick 25 January 2025

Extracts:
  • The Palestinian war against Israel is a zero-sum game—either
1. Israel wins, ensuring its survival and the terrorists are defeated; or
2. the terrorists win and Israel’s countdown to destruction begins;

On October 7, 2023 Israelis saw what the end looks like

Thousands upon thousands of Palestinians invaded the country in wave after wave
They were unified in their barbaric hatred of Jews and bloodlust

The atrocities the Palestinians committed against their overwhelmingly Jewish victims were like nothing we had ever imagined
And they were made all the worse by the fact that everyone participated

Roaring crowds handed torches to 10-year-olds, giving them the honor of lighting homes ablaze, burning entire families alive
The Palestinian hordes whooped and laughed in ecstasy as they raped, tortured and murdered their victims

And when they arrived home to Gaza with their hostages—dead and alive—they were greeted by crowds of thousands as conquering heroes
1. Yes, Hamas planned the sadistic genocide
2. Yes, Hamas led the charge
3. But it was a whole-of-society endeavor

Israel must win this war
Jewish News Syndicate by Caroline B. Glick 25 January 2025

Extracts:
  • control of Gaza [back] to Hamas
After all if Hamas’ success in murdering 1,200 Israelis in a day gave rise to the avalanche of antisemitism and jihad worldwide, there can be little question what a Hamas victory over Israel in the war, will bring

To receive the 33 hostages, Israel is required to,
1. free nearly 2,000 terrorists hundreds of whom are convicted mass murderers
2. must withdraw its forces from the cities of Gaza and from the Netzarim Corridor
3. permitting the mass return of Palestinians to northern Gaza
4. and the full resupply of Gaza, still under Hamas control

All told, Israel is paying for the 33 hostages in a manner that risks
1. all of its soldiers’ hard-won gains on the battlefield over the past 15 months of war
2. horrifically wounded soldiers and soldiers returning in coffins

While that is a steep price it pales in comparison, to the price of moving to the Phase Two

Under the terms of the Witkoff / Biden agreement, in Phase Two, Israel is to withdraw,
1. all of its remaining forces from Gaza
2. including from the border separating Gaza from Egypt
3. In other words, Israel must cede control of Gaza [back] to Hamas

In exchange, Hamas will return the remaining live hostages to Israel—but retain the bodies of the hostages it has murdered

Israel must win this war
Jewish News Syndicate by Caroline B. Glick 25 January 2025

Extracts:
  • Cease-fire/hostage deal with Hamas is 'a bad and dangerous deal'

Phase One
will make it difficult for Israel to restore its previous gains and go on to achieve victory in the war

Phase Two
1. secures Hamas’ victory
2. The implication of a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza is that Hamas wins the war

Quote
Hamas survives not only intact but in full control of Gaza, respected worldwide as the jihadist force that committed genocide and survived to rebuild and do it again and again

Phase Three
  • If implemented, involves Hamas’s return of the bodies of the dead, in exchange for the establishment of a Palestinian proto-state controlled by terrorists all over again
  • So if implemented, Phase 3 ensures that Hamas will renew its genocidal assault on Israel sooner rather than later

Israel must win this war
Jewish News Syndicate by Caroline B. Glick 25 January 2025

Extracts:
  • Iran and its terror armies - Axis of Evil / Resistance

Hezbollah has not withdrawn its forces north of the Litani River And the Lebanese Armed Forces, which are supposed to force Hezbollah forces to decamp to the north, are helping them to remain in the south

Quote
Under the circumstances, an Israeli withdrawal projects weakness that invites a future invasion

As for Iran if Hamas survives and Hezbollah survives, then Iran will emerge as the victor in this war
If Iran, the victor, is also permitted to keep its nuclear installations, it will quickly cross the nuclear threshold

The Iranian regime is not interested in a deal
It is interested in destroying Israel and the United States That is why it has been trying to assassinate President Trump

And that is why it built terror armies all around Israel and has deployed thousands of Revolutionary Guard personnel to Central and South America, all while building nuclear weapons

The terrorists will never stop trying to destroy Israel especially now that they know Israel will be the Global pariah no matter what terror atrocities they commit, in their unified barbaric hatred of Jews and bloodlust

Israel must win this war
Jewish News Syndicate by Caroline B. Glick 25 January 2025

Extracts:
  • Trump and Israel

Trump will build the foundation for a long-term peace between Israel and the Arabs of the region if
1. Trump backs Israel in returning to the battlefield to secure Hamas’s defeat in Gaza
2. and maintaining its buffer zones in Gaza permanently to prevent the area from threatening the Jewish state in the future

Trump will restore America’s standing as the only significant superpower in the region if Trump stands with Israel and backs Israel,
1. its requirement for a security zone inside Lebanon that will prevent Hezbollah and other terror forces from invading northern Israel
2. in its efforts to destroy Iran’s nuclear installations
3. and supports the Iranian people that have fought for their freedom from the regime for decades

Quote
If Trump fails to do these things, then he will cede the US’ position to China who has been a beneficiary of this weakness
This week, former Israeli ambassador to the United States Michael Oren wrote an article resonating this view

  • Oren admitted that the deal means that Hamas wins the war

Then Oren counters that Israel will save its soul by showing its devotion to the lives of its hostages by losing. Oren crooned,
Quote
“Our victory is moral, deep and long lasting”

The problem with Oren’s argument and the broader claim of the deal-at-any-price advocates is that the war is not futile

Israel must win this war
Jewish News Syndicate by Caroline B. Glick 25 January 2025

Extracts:
  • Heroic Israeli soldiers
Our heroic soldiers are winning and can win And they must win
October 7 will only be a one-off if Hamas is annihilated and Gaza remains pacified forever

  • Steep price for the hostages
They are willing to pay a steep price to secure the freedom of 33 hostages but the fight cannot be forsaken

Hostage taking is the cruelest form of psychological warfare
And it is the most powerful weapon that Israel’s enemies have in their arsenal

Quote
The terrorists know that while the Jews sanctify death, the sanctification of life is the foundational creed of the Jewish people

Those who seek a deal at all costs are right about the soul of Israel
Our collective soul was bludgeoned on October 7 and the wound remains unhealed every day the hostages remain in Gaza

As the years pass, the wound will become a scar that every Israeli and every Jew on earth will carry till the end of time
But our ability to carry those scars requires Israel to survive

October 7 showed us our enemy And now that we have seen it, we cannot ignore the truth

Quote
For the nation of Israel and the State of Israel to survive, Israel must win this war no matter what the cost
Then again.... Day 478
