U.S. Senate fails to advance bill sanctioning ICC over Netanyahu, Gallant arrest warrants

The U.S. Senate failed to advance a bill that would impose sanctions on the International Criminal Court ICC over its issuing of arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

The vote was 54-45 falling short of the 60 vote threshold needed to move it forward.

The vote is seen in Democratic circles as an attempt to prove a united front against Trump after internal party divisions arose on last week's first vote on an immigration-related bill.

The bill, however, is not necessarily off the table and now gives Democrats an opportunity to revisit some of its language.
