CATANZARO In the territory of Cutro there are several 'ndrangheta clans that try to pollute the economic and social fabric, through the classic illicit activities of the Calabrian criminal system: drug dealing and extortion. The then acting prosecutor of the Catanzaro DDA, Vincenzo Capomolla, during the press conference called at the Prosecutor's Office had revealed the details of the investigation called " Sahel ". Which hit " a 'ndrangheta association operating in Cutro and another dedicated to drug trafficking subordinate to the first ". At the end of the blitz , 31 precautionary measures were carried out . Months later, the investigation is officially closed.

The list of 54 suspects also includes Renato Guarnieri , as a judicial officer in service at the Catanzaro Prosecutor's Office who, according to the accusation, " without being part of it, contributed, from the outside, to the Cutro 'ndrangheta association, in particular to the 'ndrina Martino , linked to the Grande Aracri family , with the task of providing confidential information on ongoing criminal proceedings involving the aforementioned family ". From what has been reconstructed by the investigators, Carlo Verni - brother-in-law of the 'ndrina boss Vito Martino, is said to have revealed "the existence of an investigative activity, which could actually have led to arrests between Crotone, Catanzaro and Papanice".
